Structure – Heritage (Review)

Structure - HeritageThis is the debut album from Structure, a solo death/doom metal band from the Netherlands.

Heritage contains 50 minutes of atmospheric death/doom. The artist behind Structure knows this style well, and Heritage is certainly an above average slab of deathly, doomy misery, and that’s putting it mildly. Continue reading “Structure – Heritage (Review)”

Slimelord – Chytridiomycosis Relinquished (Review)

Slimelord - Chytridiomycosis RelinquishedThis is the debut album from UK death/doom metal band Slimelord.

Chytridiomycosis Relinquished comes to us from current/ex-members of Cryptic Shift and Horrified, which should bode well for Slimelord. This coupled with the promo stating that this is for fans of Disembowelment, Immolation, Gojira, Morbid Angel, Voidceremony, Tomb Mold, Edge of
Sanity, and Morbus Chron, made me quite intrigued to check out Chytridiomycosis Relinquished, as that’s quite the mix. Continue reading “Slimelord – Chytridiomycosis Relinquished (Review)”

Krigsgrav – Fires in the Fall (Review)

Krigsgrav - Fires in the FallKrigsgrav are a black metal band from the US and this is their seventh album.

I haven’t caught up with Krigsgrav since their 2016 album Waves of Degradation, so it’s good to check in with them once more. Fires in the Fall contains 53 minutes of new material and reveals some changes to the band’s sound, which can be roughly and facetiously summarised as shorter songs, more doom. Oceana – The Pattern (Review)

Oceana - The PatternOceana are a progressive metal band from Italy and this is their debut album.

As an introductory description of The Pattern, I’m just going to be lazy and quite the promo blurb – “The intent was to mix progressive metal elements with European-style death doom. Influences, from a musical point of view, range from Edge of Sanity to Katatonia, from Paradise Lost to Duran Duran, from Metallica to Dream Theater, in a Continue reading “Oceana – The Pattern (Review)”

Funeral Leech – Death Meditation (Review)

Funeral Leech - Death MeditationFuneral Leech are a death/doom metal band from the US and this is their debut album.

With a name like Funeral Leech how could you not want to check out Death Meditation? That’s certainly what made me pay attention to them. It’s paid off too, as Funeral Leech have not disappointed. Continue reading “Funeral Leech – Death Meditation (Review)”

Ilienses Tree – Till Autumn Comes (Review)

Ilienses Tree - Till Autumn ComesIlienses Tree are an Italian death/doom metal band and this is their debut album.

Onirophagus – Endarkenment (Illumination Through Putrefaction) (Review)

Onirophagus - Endarkenment (Illumination Through Putrefaction)Onirophagus are a Spanish death/doom metal band and this is their second album.

The phrase ‘crushing doom’ was made for a band like Onirophagus. Well, ‘crushing death/doom’ is more accurate I suppose, but it probably doesn’t matter too much. The operative word here is ‘crushing’. Continue reading “Onirophagus – Endarkenment (Illumination Through Putrefaction) (Review)”
