Lucifer’s Chalice – The Pact (Review)

Lucifer's ChaliceLucifer’s Chalice are a heavy metal band from the UK and this is their debut album.

Featuring members and ex-members of bands such as Uncoffined and Horrified, this is a somewhat different proposition. Lucifer’s Chalice play a mix of classic heavy metal and traditional doom metal, with epic-length songs and strong vibes of days gone past. Interview with Unseen Faith

Unseen Faith Logo

As I sit here typing these words, listening once again to Unseen Faith’s debut album Waver, I’m struck by just how truly passionate and engaging the band’s performance is. This comes across strongly in the vocals, of course, but it’s more than just the singer’s caustic shouts and growls; this passionate energy seems to infect every pore of the band’s delivery.

As you can see from my linked review of the album, I enjoyed it a lot, (it wouldn’t have gotten reviewed otherwise), but I must say that Waver is more of a grower than I first realised. The more I listen to it the better it gets, which is always something I ideally look for in a release.

So, sit back, listen to the embedded Bandcamp player at the bottom of the page, and have a read of the below to find out a bit more about what makes Unseen Faith as passionate as they are. Don’t get too comfortable though, as there’s some huge grooves and crushing beats to be had on Waver that are almost guaranteed to get you moving… Continue reading “Interview with Unseen Faith”

Ruins of ElysiumRuins of Elysium are an international symphonic metal band and this is their debut album.

The music on this release is bold, bombastic, and grand, with many different feelings and emotions explored; all of them epic, over-the-top, and quite infectious. It’s an ambitious release that hits more than it misses.

If you think of the comprehensive and Continue reading “Ruins of Elysium – Seeds of Chaos and Serenity (Review)”

Karne – Symposium of Torments (Review)

Chaosbaphomet – Promethean Black Flame (Review)

ChaosbaphometThis is the debut album from Greek black metal band Chaosbaphomet.

This album is bookended by a long, ritualistic, avant-garde track that serves as an introduction, and by a Necromantia cover at the other end of the album. In the middle, however, we get 24 minutes of Chaosbaphomet’s furious own-brand black metal. Continue reading “Chaosbaphomet – Promethean Black Flame (Review)”
