I do have a particular fondness for Forgotten Tomb. Over the years they have morphed from depressive black metal into some form of reeking, hideous piece of blackened sludge nastiness. I’ve had a huge, (wet, mushy, bloody), soft spot for Exhumed from the first time I heard Gore Metal way back when it came out, and ever since I’ve been a fan. I mention this only because Death Revenge is being released almost 20 years after their legendary debut, but demonstrates a band that have probably never sounded better.
Amenra are a doom/post-metal band from Belgium and this is their sixth album.
The music on this album is colossal and when it’s playing seems to envelop the world. This is a band that manage to channel their emotions into long songs of harrowing, oppressive music that still manages to retain both subtlety and nuance when it needs to.
