Draghkar – The Endless Howling Abyss (Review)

DraghkarDraghkar are a US death metal band and this is their latest EP.

I’ve very much enjoyed watching Draghkar’s development, from their debut demo World Unraveled to their split with Desekryptor from earlier in the year. The Endless Howling Abyss is their first EP, and our first larger taste of what their capabilities truly are. Continue reading “Draghkar – The Endless Howling Abyss (Review)”

Khanus – Flammarion (Review)

KhanusKhanus are a Finnish blackened death metal band and this is their debut album.

Featuring a member of Code, Khanus play unorthodox black/death metal with a depth of appeal that comes from ritualistic, shamanistic, and occult influences, as well as the aspects of non-death metal styles that the music incorporates into itself. Continue reading “Khanus – Flammarion (Review)”

However, on Fringe the band display their own dark personality, and are firmly convincing in their own right. Continue reading “Lurk – Fringe (Review)”

Second to Sun – The Black (Review)

Second to SunThis is the fourth album from Russian blackened melodic death metal band Second to Sun.

Apparently this is a rerecording of the band’s 2016 release Blackbound, with added vocals, and other differences. I was totally unfamiliar with Second to Sun’s work prior to listening to The Black, so I can’t comment on how this relates to Blackbound, other than to say that it does. Carnal Decay – When Push Comes to Shove (Review)

Carnal DecayThis is the latest EP from Carnal Decay, a death metal band from Switzerland.

After hugely enjoying 2017’s You Owe You Pay, this new 10-minute EP was well-received by yours truly. It’s great to hear more of the band’s crushing modern death metal. Continue reading “Carnal Decay – When Push Comes to Shove (Review)”
