Déhà is a Belgian solo artist who plays in a vast multitude of bands, across a variety of styles. In his solo work alone he spans a wide range of genres. This album is his 38th, (I think).
Déhà is a highly prolific artist with a withering work ethic who manages – against the odds – to consistently maintain some of the highest quality levels across a multitude of genres and styles. As a very, very small slice of examples, check out the marvellous Decadance from 2022, as well as bands such as Acathexis, C.O.A.G., Cult of Erinyes, Silver Knife, Slow, and We All Die (Laughing). This is the second album from German post-metallers Druma.
Sores of Our Time contains 36 minutes of music spread out over four songs. Druma’s style is a mix of sludge and post-metal, with dark atmosphere and a rich blackened touch. With a promo blurb that says it should be for fans of bands such as The Ocean, Cult of Luna, Amenra, and Gaerea, Sores of Our Time is an album that demanded I pay attention to it. The Grey blend post-metal with stoner doom riffery and post-rock grace. Kodok spends 42 minutes building a variety of sonic soundscapes that are immersive and absorbing. Stylistically, we’re in the territory of acts such as Pelican, Red Sparowes, Mountain Caller, Russian Circles, Bossk, and similar, at least as a rough starting point for Kodok.
