It’s a sold out show today at Manchester’s Rebellion, a venue I always like coming to. There’s a good atmosphere, and loads of quality bands to be had. What more could you want? Spoiler alert: today was an excellent day. Continue reading “Stormkeep/Winterfylleth/Saor/Ninkharsag/Arð/Nemorous/Cairns – Rebellion, Manchester – 05/08/23 (Live Review)”

Reaper Festival 2023 – Day One: Saturday – Ultha/Darkher/Coscradh/Dawn Ray’d/The Sun’s Journey Through the Night/Ruadh/Calligram/Cairns – Derby The Hairy Dog, 29/07/23 (Live Review)
I’ve never been to The Hairy Dog before, but it’s a great venue with a good vibe and good sound system. I don’t actually think I’ve ever been to Derby before at all, but if anything was going to entice me here, it was this year’s Reaper Festival, brought to us by the wonderful Reaper Agency UK. It was a great day overall, and I’d gladly attend such a well-organised show again. Sadly I could only make day one of the festival, which is a shame, as day two has many great bands too. Continue reading “Reaper Festival 2023 – Day One: Saturday – Ultha/Darkher/Coscradh/Dawn Ray’d/The Sun’s Journey Through the Night/Ruadh/Calligram/Cairns – Derby The Hairy Dog, 29/07/23 (Live Review)”
Into the Heat – Out of the Shade UK & EU Tour – The Ocean/LLNN/Playgrounded – Manchester Club Academy, 03/09/22 (Live Review)
Although I managed to see The Ocean’s livestream show and I enjoyed it very much, I’ve been looking forward to catching them in the flesh once again. So here we are, back in Manchester, back with The Ocean, (and friends). Continue reading “Into the Heat – Out of the Shade UK & EU Tour – The Ocean/LLNN/Playgrounded – Manchester Club Academy, 03/09/22 (Live Review)”
The Ocean Collective – Phanerzoic I Livestream – Club 100 Bremen – 25/03/21 (Live Review)
This is my first livestream show from a band, and what a great band to start off with. The Ocean are masters of their progressive metal trade, and tonight they’re flexing their musical muscles by playing their 2018 album Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic in its entirety. Human Target Tour – Thy Art Is Murder/Carnifex/Fit for an Autopsy/Rivers of Nihil/I Am – Manchester Academy 2, 26/01/20 (Live Review)
Tonight’s sold out show boasts a strong lineup of modern heaviness and extremity. It’s a show I’m very glad I have got to attend. So without further ado… Continue reading “Human Target Tour – Thy Art Is Murder/Carnifex/Fit for an Autopsy/Rivers of Nihil/I Am – Manchester Academy 2, 26/01/20 (Live Review)”
A Vile Desolate Sands Tour – Nile/Hate Eternal/Vitriol/Omophagia – Manchester Club Academy, 24/09/19 (Live Review)

Hexis/Zatokrev/Marw – Rebellion, Manchester – 18/08/19 (Live Review)
Hexis and Zatokrev are both bands I’ve liked for many years, but filed in the “bands I’ll probably never get to see live” category. I do so enjoy being wrong. On a more negative note, tonight is one of the most sparsely attended gigs I’ve ever been to, which is a huge shame for the bands. The Black Dahlia Murder/Ingested – Rebellion, Manchester – 10/04/19 (Live Review)
Tonight’s sold out show offers up a double hit of extremity, with the sheer brutality of Ingested and the hooked melodic aggression of The Black Dahlia Murder. Continue reading “The Black Dahlia Murder/Ingested – Rebellion, Manchester – 10/04/19 (Live Review)”
Sumac/Baptists/Endon – Manchester The Deaf Institute, 18/03/19 (Live Review)
Tonight’s line up features a lot of innovative and exciting extreme music, and I greatly encourage you to check our any of these bands live should you get the opportunity to.
I’ve never been to The Deaf Institute before, but it had a good atmosphere and all the bands tonight benefit from a solid, balanced mix. I’ll definitely look to come back here in the future if I can. Continue reading “Sumac/Baptists/Endon – Manchester The Deaf Institute, 18/03/19 (Live Review)”
Diluvium Europa 2019 Tour – First Fragment/Allegaeon/Fallujah/Obscura – Manchester Rebellion, 07/02/19 (Live Review)
So, who’s up for a night of unbridled technical brutality? Everyone in attendance at Rebellion tonight, that’s who. With a lineup like this, who can blame them?
Also, there’s a bartender here with an Acid Bath T-Shirt on. Top man. Continue reading “Diluvium Europa 2019 Tour – First Fragment/Allegaeon/Fallujah/Obscura – Manchester Rebellion, 07/02/19 (Live Review)”
