After the Abduction – Cracked and Bled (Review)

After the Abduction - Cracked and BledThis is the debut album from UK death metallers After the Abduction.

Here we have 25 minutes of slam-soaked brutal death metal. Falling somewhere between Dying Fetus and Decapitated, (roughly speaking), Cracked and Bled takes influence from both old and new strains of brutality to present us with a brief whirlwind of violence and carnage. Wombbath – Choirs of the Fallen (Review)

Wombbath - Choirs of the FallenWombbath are a Swedish death metal band and this is their fourth album.

SWEDISH DEATH METAL!!! Yeah! Wombbath return to give us another 50 minutes of the good stuff. I have a soft spot for this style that’s undeniable, but Wombbath have proven their worth in the past. Featuring members of bands such as Ashcloud, Henry Kane, Just Before Dawn, Gods Forsaken, Heads for the Dead, Ursinne, Repulsive Vision, and many others, you know that the style is in experienced hands before even pressing play. Earth Rot - Black Tides of ObscurityEarth Rot are an Australian blackened death metal band and this is their third album.

Beneath the Massacre - FearmongerThis is the fourth album from Canadian death metallers Beneath the Massacre.

Suicide Silence – Become the Hunter (Review)

Suicide Silence - Become the HunterSuicide Silence are an extreme metal band from the US and this is their sixth album.

2017’s self-titled album was an enjoyable throwback to the nu-metal era, replete with all of the requisite parts you would expect from such a release. On Become the Hunter Suicide Silence leave behind the experimental nature of their fifth album and instead focus on the more familiar extreme metal ground that they are known for. Continue reading “Suicide Silence – Become the Hunter (Review)”

Plague – Portraits of Mind (Review)

Plague - Portraits of MindPlague are a Greek death metal band and this is their debut album.

Plague are an old-school death metal band that take influence from the 90s American scene, but do so in such a way that they seem to make it their own. This is ultimately a chunky slab of timeless death metal, shot through with classic influences, as well as some modern ones too. Despite an obvious debt to the mighty Death, the music has its own personality and brutal charm that can’t be denied. Continue reading “Plague – Portraits of Mind (Review)”
