This is the fourth album from Brazilian death metallers Rebaelliun.
2016’s The Hell’s Decrees was a really damn good slab of death metal. It’s been a long time coming, but its follow up is now here, and I have been eagerly awaiting it. Containing 39 minutes of new material, and sadly the final performance of late bassist/vocalist Lohy Fabiano, Under the Sign of Rebellion is the sound of a death metal band who have come to destroy. Continue reading “Rebaelliun – Under the Sign of Rebellion (Review)”
This is the third album from international death metal band Wormhole.
I enjoyed 2015’s Genesis and 2020’s The Weakest Among Us, so was keen to find out what Almost Human offered. Back with a new lineup once again, Wormhole deliver 26 minutes of death metal carnage. It’s immediately clear too that Wormhole have levelled up on this new album. Continue reading “Wormhole – Almost Human (Review)”
KEN Mode are a noise rock/hardcore band from Canada and this is their ninth album.
While I really liked 2018’s Loved, 2022’s Null hit harder, and really made KEN Mode an exciting proposition. Apparently I missed out on reviewing Null, (I honestly thought I did), but Void offers an opportunity of sorts to correct that oversight; Void is the companion piece to Null, recorded at the same time, and designed to go together. Continue reading “KEN Mode – Void (Review)”
This is the second album from US solo black metal band Ushangvagush.
Ushangvagush is an indigenous black metal project that channels a range of influences into a single 46-minute song, (chopped into two tracks for physical media). It’s an album of depth and substance, one that’s richly rewarding for those initiated in the ways of underground black metal. Continue reading “Ushangvagush – Pestmo’qon (Review)”
This is the sixteenth album from legendary death metallers Cannibal Corpse.

This is the debut album from international black metal band Aset.
Featuring members of Seth and Oranssi Pazuzu, Astral Rape is a 43-minute mystical journey that “blends Egyptian occult rites with a modern and aggressive black metal”, according to the promo blurb. Continue reading “Aset – Astral Rape (Review)”
This is the fourth album from Canadian death metallers Tomb Mold.
Following on from 2018’s Manor of Infinite Forms and 2019’s Planetary Clairvoyance, comes The Enduring Spirit; 43 minutes of eagerly awaited material from an extremely well-regarded band. Continue reading “Tomb Mold – The Enduring Spirit (Review)”
Spurv are from Norway and play post-rock. This is their fourth album.
Spurv play an instrumental, (mostly), brand of atmospheric music that falls somewhere between post-rock and post-metal. Across 45 minutes Brefjære brings a musical odyssey to life, and shows just how affecting this sort of style can be. Continue reading “Spurv – Brefjære (Review)”
Aortha is a metal project based in Norway, and this is their debut album.
To best explain who/what Aortha is, let’s turn to the promo blurb – “AORTHA is new metal project/band founded by Predrag Glogovac . He was guitar player from known metal band in ex.Yugoslavia called MONOLIT which was active from 1988-1992 until war broke in country and band ceased to exist. Reunion in 2006-2008 and one fine album released on One Records from Belgrade «Arcana Balkanica» in 2008. Predrag has played in Norway with some known metal musicians for years.
