Sunrot are a sludge band from the US and this is their second album.
Sunrot’s hostile music is a sludge metal monster that is enhanced by noise and effects in the manner of early Eyehategod records. It’s a 40-minute trip through the corridors of sludge and doom, and wears its influences on its sleeves like badges of honour. The promo blurb mentions bands like Primitive Man, Jupiterian, 71TONMAN, Thou, Conan, Grief, and Warcrab, and this certainly sets the scene for the output of Morbid Evils quite well. Oh dear. This is some gloriously foul stuff. Bog Body have come to torment us with a 34-minute deluge of swampy horror that’s wonderfully hideous. Cryonic Crevasse Cult is a sort of corrupted mix of sludge doom and black metal, with touches of death metal and industrial nightmare added for extra terror.
