Death Engine – Place Noire (Review)

Death Engine – Place Noire (Review)

Death EngineDeath Engine are a French hardcore band and this is their second album.

I like Death Engine. Like, a lot. Mud was a massively enjoyable album of multifaceted, nuanced hardcore, showing a breadth of delivery and depth of substance that’s extremely rare to encounter outside of the mighty Converge. This should not be taken to mean that Death Engine sound like Converge, however. Continue reading “Death Engine – Place Noire (Review)”

Abjection Ritual – Soul of Ruin, Body of Filth (Review)

Abjection RitualAbjection Ritual are a US industrial doom band and this is their third album.

With an enigmatic, yet enticing album cover, this release drew me in like a moth to a flame. With a few varying and slightly contradictory descriptions of what was contained on this release, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect before pressing play, but knew this was something I wanted to explore. What I found was an unexpected and engaging album. Continue reading “Abjection Ritual – Soul of Ruin, Body of Filth (Review)”

AryaArya are an Italian progressive/post-metal band and this is their third album.

I enjoyed last year’s Dreamwars. This was a curiously individual release, blending emotive modern progressive/alternative metal with a dreamy strain of post-metal. It’s an album that is striking upon first listen, but properly Continue reading “Arya – Endesires (Review)”
