With a name like 200 Stab Wounds, you know this is going to be brutal, and if you weren’t sure, then the album cover would surely confirm it. Manual Manic Procedures contains 29 minutes of bloodthirsty cruelty, and if you’re a death metal fan then it’s an easy album to enjoy getting punched around by. Harvest of Malevolence is the 40-minute follow up to 2021’s very enjoyable Hideous Entity, which made it onto my end of year list. This is the third album from US death metallers Gatecreeper.
Gatecreeper are always a reliable source of crushing old-school death metal carnage. Both 2016’s Sonoran Depravation and 2019’s Deserted were solid slabs of heaviness, (I also really enjoyed their 2018 split with Iron Reagan), so checking out the 37-minute Dark Superstition was mandatory. Here’s some nasty death metal for you to clog up your pores. Ecdysis is a sludge factory of old-school death metal that really brings out the filth in the style. Necrot are a death metal band from the US and this is their third album.
2020’s Mortal was an enjoyable slab of old-school death metal carnage, and now Necrot are back to reap more limbs with the 40-minute Lifeless Birth. Uttertomb are a death metal band from Chile and this is their debut album.
Nebulas of Self-Desecration contains 43 minutes of morbid death metal darkness. Manifesting as ancient death metal with a serving of doom horror, if you think of a mix of bands such as Autopsy, Incantation, and Immolation, you’ll have a decent starting point for Uttertomb’s output.
