Uttertomb – Nebulas of Self-Desecration (Review)

Uttertomb - Nebulas of Self-DesecrationUttertomb are a death metal band from Chile and this is their debut album.

Nebulas of Self-Desecration contains 43 minutes of morbid death metal darkness. Manifesting as ancient death metal with a serving of doom horror, if you think of a mix of bands such as Autopsy, Incantation, and Immolation, you’ll have a decent starting point for Uttertomb’s output.

This is old-school death metal that carries with it otherworldly vibes and esoteric melodies. Uttertomb sound like they’re trying to break down the walls between realities with brute force and strength of will, and they seem potentially capable of doing this too.

Drenched in eldritch atmospheres and powered by gloomy brutality, Uttertomb’s destructive music is crushingly nasty. Nebulas of Self-Desecration has a gratifying sound, allowing the deathly aggression to darkly blossom into poisonous blooms that crawl and bite.

Nebulas of Self-Desecration is a solid death metal album that’s readily enjoyable if you’re a fan of the genre.  I find this sort of thing effortless to enjoy. With pummelling brutality and macabre atmosphere, the band have produced an album that speaks well of its creators. Uttertomb succeed in providing a satisfying slab of death metal that’s easy listening if you are steeped in the style and want something that does exactly what you would want it to.

For underground death metal fanatics, this is one to definitely spend some time with.
