Now here’s an interesting show. A bill of extremes, from the deathgrind mayhem of Knoll to the funeral doom crawl of Bell Witch. How could I miss such a compelling reason to journey to one of my favourite venues in Manchester once more? Continue reading “Bell Witch/Knoll – Rebellion, Manchester – 14/04/24 (Live Review)”

Subterraen – In the Aftermath of Blight (Review)
Subterraen are a French sludge/post-metal band and this is their second album.

The Vision Bleak – Weird Tales (Review)
This is the seventh album from German Gothic metal band The Vision Bleak.
Weird Tales consists of a single 41-minute song, which is made up of twelve separate movements. It looks like on Bandcamp this will be divided into actual tracks, but thankfully the review version consists of just one track, as this is definitely a release to experience in its entirety, without interruption. Continue reading “The Vision Bleak – Weird Tales (Review)”
Acid Mammoth – Supersonic Megafauna Collision (Review)
This is the fourth album from Greek doom metallers Acid Mammoth.
I enjoyed 2021’s lumbering Caravan, so was pleased when the enormous snout of Supersonic Megafauna Collision appeared on the horizon. Delivering 42 minutes of new material, Acid Mammoth double down on their personable brand of doomgroove across these six new songs. Continue reading “Acid Mammoth – Supersonic Megafauna Collision (Review)”
Civerous – Maze Envy (Review)
This is the second album from US death metallers Civerous.
We last met Civerous on their 2020 split with Stygian Obsession, so it’s great to be able to hear a full album from them. Brought to us by members of Aylwin and Tzompantli, Maze Envy contains 42 minutes of cavernous death that’s wrapped around doom and black metal elements. Continue reading “Civerous – Maze Envy (Review)”
Hamferð – Men Guðs Hond er Sterk (Review)
This is the third album from death/doom band Hamferð, who are from the Faroe Islands.

Slimelord – Chytridiomycosis Relinquished (Review)
This is the debut album from UK death/doom metal band Slimelord.
Chytridiomycosis Relinquished comes to us from current/ex-members of Cryptic Shift and Horrified, which should bode well for Slimelord. This coupled with the promo stating that this is for fans of Disembowelment, Immolation, Gojira, Morbid Angel, Voidceremony, Tomb Mold, Edge of
Sanity, and Morbus Chron, made me quite intrigued to check out Chytridiomycosis Relinquished, as that’s quite the mix. Continue reading “Slimelord – Chytridiomycosis Relinquished (Review)”
Isenordal – Requiem for Eirênê (Review)
This is the third album from Isenordal, a doom metal band from the US.
Brought to us by members of Dead to a Dying World and Wilt, Requiem for Eirênê contains 56 minutes of expressive doom metal. Isenordal play a multifaceted style that combines elements of funeral doom, black metal, and neofolk. Requiem for Eirênê is an album that’s rich in evocative layers. Continue reading “Isenordal – Requiem for Eirênê (Review)”
