Barren Altar – Entrenched in the Faults of the Earth (Review)

Barren AltarBarren Altar are a US blackened doom band and this is their debut album.

Well, this album just exudes apocalyptic vibes from every corrupted, malignant pore on its infected body. Sheesh. Better not get too close to this one. Continue reading “Barren Altar – Entrenched in the Faults of the Earth (Review)”

Incorporea – To Exorcize the Sun (Review)

IncorporeaIncorporea are a Spanish black metal band and this is their debut EP.

Here we have a darkly atmospheric 12 minutes of music. The two songs on this EP are very enjoyable examples of what Incorporea are capable of. Full of bleak, depressive atmosphere layered with cold aggression, this brief foray into the land of Incorporea is definitely worth the trip. NoneNone are a black metal band from the US and this is their second album.

Afsky – Sorg (Review)

AfskyAfsky is a one man black metal band from Denmark and this is his debut album.

Although principally a solo act, the artist behind Afsky did bring in many session musicians for the creation of this album, (including Myrkur who brings not only her musical skills to the band, but also her always impressive vocals at the end of the last song). These help to flesh out the album fully, and add additional touches to the songs here and there. For example; Continue reading “Afsky – Sorg (Review)”

Moonaadem – Moonaadem (Review)

MoonaademMoonaadem is a one man black metal band from Lebanon and this is his debut album.

Here we have 32 minutes of atmospheric black metal with ambient touches. It’s an impressive debut. I can’t help but feel it’s probably destined for undeserved obscurity, sadly, but is definitely worth seeking out due to how good it is. Continue reading “Moonaadem – Moonaadem (Review)”
