Malformed – Confinement of Flesh (Review)

Malformed - Confinement of FleshMalformed are a death metal band from Finland and this is their debut album.

Confinement of Flesh contains 33 minutes of old-school death metal played in the USDM style and mixed with Finnish darkness. Malformed know their way around a killing field, and this album is very easy to like if you’re a fan of classic death metal. Continue reading “Malformed – Confinement of Flesh (Review)”

Filth – Time to Rot (Review)

Filth - Time to RotFilth are a death metal band from Sweden and this is their debut album.

Time to Rot contains 29 minutes of utter Filth. Sorry, this stuff writes itself. This is nasty, stinking, decaying, old-school death metal, and Filth know what they are doing with the style. Continue reading “Filth – Time to Rot (Review)”

Clairvoyance – Chasm of Immurement (Review)

Clairvoyance - Chasm of ImmurementThis is the debut album from Polish death metallers Clairvoyance.

Chasm of Immurement contains 34 minutes of old-school death metal. Clairvoyance’s debut album takes us back to the 90s, while still crushing in 2025. Drawn and Quartered – Lord of Two Horns (Review)

Drawn and Quartered - Lord of Two HornsThis is the ninth album by US death metallers Drawn and Quartered.

Drawn and Quartered are a very good death metal band, with a history of strong releases. They are the kind of band that can take similar components that are used so well by acts such as Immolation and Incantation, yet manage to fuse these into something that has a personality of its own. At this point in their career Drawn and Quartered have more than shown their talent and longevity in the death metal game, so Lord of Two Horns is an eagerly anticipated release. Serpent Corpse – Retaliate (Review)

Serpent Corpse - RetaliateSerpent Corpse are a Canadian death metal band and this is their latest EP.

I thoroughly enjoyed 2023’s Blood Sabbath, so am pleased to have this new EP from Serpent Corpse. Retaliate contains 26 minutes of new material – four tracks of hideous old-school death metal for fans of the good stuff. On Retaliate Serpent Corpse have pushed themselves further, with longer songs and a wider breadth of deathly vision. Continue reading “Serpent Corpse – Retaliate (Review)”

Caustic Wound – Grinding Mechanism of Torment (Review)

Caustic Wound - Grinding Mechanism of TormentThis is the second album by US deathgrinders Caustic Wound.

Caustic Wound contain current/ex-members of Corpus Offal, Magrudergrind, Mortiferum, and Cerebral Rot,, and Grinding Mechanism of Torment is a 28-minute platter of old-school ferocity. Providing us with largely short bursts of death metal-infused grindcore, this is for fans of bands such as Brutal Truth, Carcass, ExhumedNapalm Death, Repulsion, and Terrorizer. Continue reading “Caustic Wound – Grinding Mechanism of Torment (Review)”

Haemorrhage – Opera Medica (Review)

Haemorrhage - Opera MedicaThis is the latest EP from Spanish grindcore band Haemorrhage.

It’s been a while since 2017’s We Are the Gore, but now we have this new 19-minute EP from the gore-covered Haemorrhage. Containing four new songs and a Dismember cover, Opera Medica offers an enjoyable hit of deathgrind extremity for aficionados of the band to sink their bloodstained teeth into. Continue reading “Haemorrhage – Opera Medica (Review)”

Cancer – Inverted World (Review)

Cancer - Inverted WorldCancer are a UK death metal band and this is their seventh album.

As far as 90s death metal bands go, Cancer are severely underrated. When they returned in 2018 with Shadow Gripped they returned strong, and I actually can’t believe it was so long ago that it came out and that I saw them at that year’s Damnation Festival. Time really does fly. Anyway, Cancer have now returned with a new lineup, (including members of Dissocia, Eternal Storm, and Wormed), and the 46-minute Inverted World. Lik – Necro (Review)

Lik - NecroLik are a Swedish death metal band and this is their fourth album.

Following on from 2018’s Carnage and 2020’s Misanthropic Breed comes another slab of Swedish death metal carnage from the ever-dependable Lik. Necro is a solid 41-minute slab of heaviness. Continue reading “Lik – Necro (Review)”
