Obscene have just unleashed what is probably my favourite record of theirs in Agony & Wounds. The band’s vocalist Kyle Shaw was kind enough to answer a few questions about this, so let’s dive right in… Continue reading “Interview with Obscene”

Ceremony of Silence – Hálios (Review)
This is the second album from Slovakian black/death metal band Ceremony of Silence.
Five years after 2019’s malignant Oútis, Ceremony of Silence have returned with the 36-minute Hálios. An album of atmospheric brutality, Hálios expands on and further develops the strengths of Ceremony of Silence’s debut album. Continue reading “Ceremony of Silence – Hálios (Review)”
Pestilent Death – Pathways to Infinite Malignity (Review)
Pestilent Death are a death metal band from the US and this is their latest EP.
It’s been a while since the putrid death metal assault of 2019’s Chapters of Depravity, but now Pestilent Death have waded into the fray once more. This is primal underground death metal, in all of its disgusting glory. Continue reading “Pestilent Death – Pathways to Infinite Malignity (Review)”
Werewolves – Die for Us (Review)
This is the fifth album from Australian death metallers Werewolves.
To say I’ve been looking forward to this is an understatement. Four albums in four years, and every one a winner; Werewolves are on fire. Can Die for Us – the fifth album in five years – be just as potent as the likes of 2022’s From the Cave to the Grave and 2023’s My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me? Continue reading “Werewolves – Die for Us (Review)”
Skelethal – Within Corrosive Continuums (Review)
Skelethal are a French death metal band and this is their third album.
Skelethal play classic death metal and unleash 40 minutes of carnage across Within Corrosive Continuums. Built upon a sturdy foundation of old-school Swedish death metal, the music is forged from iron and molten lava. Continue reading “Skelethal – Within Corrosive Continuums (Review)”
Vanhelgd – Atropos Doctrina (Review)
This is the sixth album from Vanhelgd, a death metal band from Sweden.
I got quite excited when I saw Vanhelgd’s newest appear; it’s been a long six years since 2018’s Deimos Sanktuarium after all. That record even made it onto that year’s year end list, as did its predecessor Temple of Phobos in 2016. 2014’s Relics of Sulphur Salvation didn’t, but probably should have somewhere. Continue reading “Vanhelgd – Atropos Doctrina (Review)”
Obscene – Agony & Wounds (Review)
This is the third album from US death metal band Obscene.
I enjoyed 2020’s The Inhabitable Dark and 2022’s …From Dead Horizon to Dead Horizon, so knew that Agony & Wounds was destined for my earholes. Obscene vomit forth 42 new minutes of material on this new platter, and if you liked their earlier stuff, then you should very much like this too. Continue reading “Obscene – Agony & Wounds (Review)”
Wormed – Omegon (Review)
Wormed are a Spanish death metal band and this is their fourth album.
A new Wormed album – their first in eight years – is a cause for celebration. Join me then for a 4-minute journey into cosmic madness and chaos, as Wormed unleash multidimensional Hell on the monstrously formidable Omegon. Continue reading “Wormed – Omegon (Review)”
Sijjeel – Affiliation of Horrid Containment (Review)
This is the second album from Sijjeel, a death metal band from Saudi Arabia.
Returning to dish out more punishment after 2022’s brutal Salvation Within Insanity, Sijjeel are back with an even bigger hammer to smash in your ungrateful face with. Yep, it’s time for another slab of crushing death metal, so prepare to get smushed. Continue reading “Sijjeel – Affiliation of Horrid Containment (Review)”
Noxis – Violence Inherent in the System (Review)
Noxis are a death metal band from the US and this is their debut album.
Violence Inherent in the System contains 49 minutes, (with the bonus track), of mayhem. While it’s on the longer side for a death metal album, the quantity is backed up by the quality. Continue reading “Noxis – Violence Inherent in the System (Review)”
