Floods – Floods (Review)

FloodsFloods are a US black metal band and this is their debut EP.

Floods play a mix of black, death and sludge metal. Which genre they are actually playing is up for debate, although I’d argue that black metal forms the largest part of their musical equation, so we’ll go with that. Continue reading “Floods – Floods (Review)”

Reaping Asmodeia – Impuritize (Review)

Reaping AsmodeiaThis is the second album from Reaping Asmodeia, a technical death metal band from the US.

The album is Continue reading “Woe – Hope Attrition (Review)”

Lantern – II: Morphosis (Review)

LanternLantern are a blackened death metal band from Finland and this is their second album.

Lantern positively reek of old-school death metal’s foul, atavistic stench, albeit one that’s been dipped in the grim waters of black metal’s malevolence. Death metal is the overriding style here, but there’s enough of a blackened influence to allow for it in the genre tag. Continue reading “Lantern – II: Morphosis (Review)”

Benighted – Necrobreed (Review)

BenightedBenighted are a French death metal band and this is their eighth album.

Benighted impressed the Hell out of me when I managed to catch them live supporting The Black Dahlia Murder, (whose singer guests on this album), so it’s with a palpable sense of excitement that I press play on Necrobreed. After a typically throwaway intro, the Continue reading “Benighted – Necrobreed (Review)”
