Bones – Diseased (Review)

Bones - DiseasedThis is the third album from US crusty death metallers Bones.

Sons of Sleaze came out in 2013 and made a mess. Featuring current and ex-members of Usurper, the band clearly had the filthy talents, and now they’re back to make an even bigger mess of things with Diseased. Continue reading “Bones – Diseased (Review)”

Kludde – In de Kwelm (Review)

Kludde - In de KwelmKludde are a Belgian black metal band and this is their second album.

Inspired by second wave black metal, this is old-school, raw, and menacing. A death metal influence can be heard in the music, giving it more muscle and thickness than some black metal out there. Pinches of crust’s energetic urgency can be detected too here and there, propelling a particular passage along at a punishing rate. There’s even a doom/sludge influence; this mainly Continue reading “Kludde – In de Kwelm (Review)”

Gränslandet – Denationalization (Review)

Gränslandet - DenationalizationGränslandet are a hardcore/sludge band from Sweden. This is their second album.

I liked 2016’s Solidium, so it’s good to have the band return to the fray with Denationalization. On their new record the band offer up 37 minutes of crusty hardcore mixed with doomy sludge. Continue reading “Gränslandet – Denationalization (Review)”

Endorphins Lost – Seclusions (Review)

endorphins lost - seclusionsEndorphins Lost are from the US and play grindcore. This is their second album.

My first encounter with Endorphins Lost was on their split with Osk, and I enjoyed their brief, violent take on crust/hardcore-infused grind. Their songs on that split only lasted four minutes, so it’s great to be able to find out what the band can do with 21 minutes of material. Continue reading “Endorphins Lost – Seclusions (Review)”
