Sijjeel – Affiliation of Horrid Containment (Review)

Sijjeel - Affiliation of Horrid ContainmentThis is the second album from Sijjeel, a death metal band from Saudi Arabia.

Returning to dish out more punishment after 2022’s brutal Salvation Within Insanity, Sijjeel are back with an even bigger hammer to smash in your ungrateful face with. Yep, it’s time for another slab of crushing death metal, so prepare to get smushed. Continue reading “Sijjeel – Affiliation of Horrid Containment (Review)”

Spawned from Hate – Elective Amputation (Review)

Spawned from Hate - Elective AmputationSpawned from Hate are a UK death metal band and this is the debut album.

So here we are then, the long overdue first album from Spawned from Hate. I enjoyed 2015’s EP Accelerated Butchery, as well as their 2018 promo, but then…the slaughterhouse went silent.

No longer. Continue reading “Spawned from Hate – Elective Amputation (Review)”

Severe Torture – Torn from the Jaws of Death (Review)

Severe Torture - Torn from the Jaws of DeathSevere Torture are a death metal band from the Netherlands and this is their sixth album.

Torn from the Jaws of Death is a 39-minute hammer smash to the face. I’ve been a huge fan of Severe Torture ever since 2000’s Feasting on Blood, so to say I’ve been excited for this has been an understatement. I’m pleased to say that Severe Torture have delivered the entrails-smeared goods, and have also brought some additional torture implements with them too. Ad Patres – Unbreathable (Review)

Ad Patres - UnbreathableThis is the third album from French death metallers Ad Patres.

I loved 2012’s Scorn Aesthetics, and 2019’s A Brief Introduction to Human Experiments was an enjoyable slab of death metal too. Which brings us to Unbreathable, and the 38 minutes of carnage that it unleashes. Continue reading “Ad Patres – Unbreathable (Review)”

Pathology – Unholy Descent (Review)

Pathology - Unholy DescentPathology are a death metal band from the US and this is their twelfth album.

2017’s Pathology, 2019’s Reborn to Kill, and 2021’s The Everlasting Plague all hit like trucks, with Pathology displaying an easy mastery of brutal death metal each time they erupted from the shadows to strike. This made me excited to experience the punishment that Unholy Descent had to offer. Continue reading “Pathology – Unholy Descent (Review)”

Atræ Bilis – Aumicide (Review)

Atræ Bilis - AumicideThis is the second album from Canadian death metal band Atræ Bilis.

Following on from 2021’s Apexapien, Atræ Bilis have now returned with 40 minutes of new material. As enjoyable as that record was, Aumicide is something else. Continue reading “Atræ Bilis – Aumicide (Review)”

Benighted – Ekbom (Review)

Benighted - EkbomThis is the tenth album from French death metallers Benighted.

I’ve enjoyed all of my encounters with Benighted so far, (NecrobreedDogs Always Bite Harder than Their MastersObscene Repressed, and live in 2016), so I knew I wanted to check out Ekbom. Running at a lean and mean 37 minutes, Ekbom is here to brutalise and destroy. Continue reading “Benighted – Ekbom (Review)”

Ingested – The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams (Review)

Ingested - The Tide of Death and Fractured DreamsThis is the seventh album from UK death metallers Ingested.

So, if you’re a fan of deathcore-edged brutal death metal, then you must surely know of Ingested by now, (if not, acquaint yourself with The Level Above Human, Where Only Gods May Tread, Ashes Lie Still, and the rest). Ingested seem to be on a bit of a creative binge over the last few years, pumping out albums like nobody’s business, which brings us to the 45 minutes of heaviness that is The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams. Continue reading “Ingested – The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams (Review)”

Hour of Penance – Devotion (Review)

Hour of Penance - DevotionThis is the ninth album from Italian death metallers Hour of Penance.

I always enjoy a bit of Hour of Penance’s brutality. Devotion follows on from 2017’s Cast the First Stone and 2019’s Misotheism, delivering 38 minutes of textured death metal destruction. Continue reading “Hour of Penance – Devotion (Review)”

Brodequin – Harbinger of Woe (Review)

Brodequin - Harbinger of WoeThis is the fourth album from US death metal band Brodequin.

Harbinger of Woe contains 32 minutes of furious brutal death metal. It’s the first album since 2004’s merciless Methods of Execution, and Brodequin are back to make up for lost time. Continue reading “Brodequin – Harbinger of Woe (Review)”
