Of Spire & Throne – Penance (Review)

Of Spire & Throne - PenanceThis is the second album from Of Spire and Throne, a doom/sludge band from the UK.

Now here’s a band I really enjoy the work of, (Toll of the Wound, Sanctum in the Light), so it’s great to have them back. Continue reading “Of Spire & Throne – Penance (Review)”

Majestic Downfall – Waters of Fate (Review)

Majestic Downfall - Waters of FateThis is the fifth album from Majestic Downfall, a Mexican death/doom band.

Having enjoyed very much Majestic Downfall’s 2014 split with The Slow Death, a new album of 52-minute duration is well-received. Continue reading “Majestic Downfall – Waters of Fate (Review)”

Sadhus “The Smoking Community” – Big Fish (Review)

Sadhus The Smoking Community - Big FishThis is the second album from Sadhus “The Smoking Community”, a sludge metal band from Greece.

1914 – The Blind Leading the Blind (Review)

Bismuth – The Slow Dying of the Great Barrier Reef (Review)

Bismuth - The Slow Dying of the Great Barrier ReefThis is the second album from UK doom/drone band Bismuth.

Over the years they’ve continued to develop their bass-drum-synth-low-end-heavy-doom-assault-on-the-senses approach to music. Every release essentially sees them rising to new heights of both extremity and nuance, and this has now culminated in this new colossal album. Clawing – Labour (Review)

Clawing - LabourThis is the latest album from US drone/noise band Clawing

I like Clawing. I mean, in the way that I like getting my eyes scratched out. This is a deeply unpleasant band producing deeply unpleasant music. As I’m sure I’ve stated previously, this is not normally my kind of thing. Noise/drone Continue reading “Clawing – Labour (Review)”
