Signs of the Swarm – To Rid Myself of Truth (Review)

Signs of the Swarm - To Rid Myself of TruthThis is the sixth album from US deathcore band Signs of the Swarm.

From 2017’s The Disfigurement of Existence to 2019’s Vital Deprivation, to 2021’s Absolvere to 2023’s Amongst the Low & Empty, Signs of the Swarm have been reliably pumping out solid deathcore material for fans of the style to lap up. Which brings us nicely to this year’s To Rid Myself of Truth; 40 minutes of new material, and another dependably good slab of heaviness. Distant – Tsukuyomi: The Origin (Review)

Distant - Tsukuyomi The OriginThis is the fourth album from Distant, a deathcore band from the Netherlands.

I always enjoy catching up with Distant. Their brand of downtempo deathcore heaviness has always stood out as better than the norm, (check out Tyrannotophia, Dawn of Corruption, Dusk of Anguish, and Heritage), so I knew I had to check out Tsukuyomi: The Origin. Aborted – Vault of Horrors (Review)

Aborted - Vault of HorrorsAborted are a death metal band from Belgium and this is their twelfth album.

I can’t help but love Aborted. Their addictive blast and groove approach to death metal is tried, tested, and brutally efficient. I’ll link my reviews for Retrogore, Bathos, Terrorvision, and Maniacult, and urge you to check them all out, as they’re definitely all worth your time. Which brings us to Vault of Horrors, the new 40-minute Aborted offering. Continue reading “Aborted – Vault of Horrors (Review)”

Signs of the Swarm – Amongst the Low & Empty (Review)

Signs of the Swarm - Amongst the Low & EmptyThis is the fifth album from US deathcore/death metal band Signs of the Swarm.

It’s always good to have some new Signs of the Swarm, as the band haven’t disappointed me yet. 2017’s The Disfigurement of Existence, 2019’s Vital Deprivation, and 2021’s Absolvere were all crushing slabs of heaviness, and the 42 minutes of new material on Amongst the Low & Empty is no exception. Having said that, it’s not completely business as usual either, and Signs of the Swarm have produced their best work so far. Continue reading “Signs of the Swarm – Amongst the Low & Empty (Review)”

Bonecarver – Carnage Funeral (Review)

Bonecarver - Carnage FuneralBonecarver are a Spanish deathcore band and this is their second album.

After the thoroughly brutal Evil from only last year, Bonecarver are back already with Carnage Funeral, but they’re not the same band that we met only recently. This 40-minute record showcases the band as they develop their sound further; Carnage Funeral is Bonecarver’s next evolutionary step. Continue reading “Bonecarver – Carnage Funeral (Review)”

A Wake in Providence – Eternity (Review)

A Wake in Providence - EternityThis is the second album from US deathcore band A Wake in Providence.

The promo blurb states that this is for fans of bands like Osiah, Signs of the Swarm, and Aversions Crown, and who am I to disagree with that? Okay, well maybe a little. I’d mention bands like Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty, and Worm Shepherd too, as A Wake in Providence Continue reading “A Wake in Providence – Eternity (Review)”

Signs of the Swarm – Absolvere (Review)

Signs of the Swarm - AbsolvereThis is the fourth album from US deathcore/death metal band Signs of the Swarm.

Both 2017’s The Disfigurement of Existence and 2019’s Vital Deprivation were crushingly effective records, which has made me quite excited for Absolvere. With a change of album art style, has there been a change of sound too? Continue reading “Signs of the Swarm – Absolvere (Review)”

Signs of the Swarm – Vital Deprivation (Review)

Signs of the Swarm - Vital DeprivationThis is the third album from US deathcore/death metal band Signs of the Swarm.

I enjoyed 2017’s The Disfigurement of Existence, which took the standard deathcore template and injected into it brutal slamming death metal and the very occasional bout of melody and atmosphere. On Vital Deprivation the band have returned with 27 minutes of new material, and a changed style and singer too. Continue reading “Signs of the Swarm – Vital Deprivation (Review)”

Signs of the Swarm – The Disfigurement of Existence (Review)

Signs of the SwarmThis is the second album from US deathcore/death metal band Signs of the Swarm.

Signs of the Swarm play crushing deathcore, mixing slamming death metal with vicious beats to good effect. With groovy brutality and punishing intensity, his album is an unrelenting 47 minutes of heavy aggression. Continue reading “Signs of the Swarm – The Disfigurement of Existence (Review)”
