Tribal Gaze - Inveighing BrillianceTribal Gaze are a death metal band from the US and this is their second album.

Inveighing Brilliance is the 32-minute follow up to 2022’s well-received The Nine Choirs. Tribal Gaze are back, and they have brought with them enough riffs and breakdowns to fuel mosh pits for years to come. Continue reading “Tribal Gaze – Inveighing Brilliance (Review)”

Sanguisugabogg – Hideous Aftermath (Review)

Sanguisugabogg - Hideous AftermathSanguisugabogg are a death metal band from the US and this is their third album.

Following on from 2023’s Homicidal Ecstasy comes the 48-minute Hideous Aftermath. Sanguisugabogg have created a limbering death metal monster. Laying bloody waste to all around it, it’s ridiculously enjoyable and well-crafted. Yep, this beats Homicidal Ecstasy to death and revels in its destruction. As much as I liked that record, this is superior in every way that counts. Continue reading “Sanguisugabogg – Hideous Aftermath (Review)”

Retching – Charming the Decomposed (Review)

Retching - Charming the DecomposedThis is the debut album from US death metal band Retching.

What is this rotten bag of offal that has been unceremoniously stuffed through my letterbox? Oh, there’s a note, written in something quite unwholesome that I’d rather not look too closely at. It says – Retching. Then, beneath – Charming the Decomposed. Sounds nasty. Okay, I’d better hold my gag reflex and examine this pile of filth before it gets even more disgusting and I never get the stains out. Continue reading “Retching – Charming the Decomposed (Review)”

Maul – In the Jaws of Bereavement (Review)

Maul - In the Jaws of BereavementThis is the second album from US death metal band Maul.

I confess I had unreasonably high expectations for this one going in. I really enjoyed 2022’s Seraphic Punishment, in that deeply satisfying way that only quality death metal can give you. Now that the 39 minutes of In the Jaws of Bereavement has arrived with the force of a gigantic hammer, have my expectations been met? Continue reading “Maul – In the Jaws of Bereavement (Review)”

200 Stab Wounds – Manual Manic Procedures (Review)

200 Stab Wounds - Manual Manic ProceduresThis is the second album from US death metallers 200 Stab Wounds.

With a name like 200 Stab Wounds, you know this is going to be brutal, and if you weren’t sure, then the album cover would surely confirm it. Manual Manic Procedures contains 29 minutes of bloodthirsty cruelty, and if you’re a death metal fan then it’s an easy album to enjoy getting punched around by.
