Undeath – It’s Time...to Rise from the Grave (Review)

Undeath - It's Time...to Rise from the GraveUndeath are a death metal band from the US and this is their second album.

I thoroughly enjoyed 2020’s Lesions of a Different Kind, so now that the band are back with 36 minutes of festering new material, I’m ready. At least, I though I was; It’s Time...to Rise from the Grave is better than I could have hoped for. Continue reading “Undeath – It’s Time...to Rise from the Grave (Review)”

Golgothan Remains – Adorned in Ruin (Review)

Golgothan Remains - Adorned in RuinThis is the second album from Australian death metallers Golgothan Remains.

I really enjoyed the ugly malevolence of Golgothan Remains’ 2018 debut Perverse Offerings to the Void. It’s now four years later, and Adorned in Ruin has finally come crashing into our lives. Has it been worth the wait? Continue reading “Golgothan Remains – Adorned in Ruin (Review)”

Astral Tomb – Soulgazer (Review)

Astral Tomb - SoulgazerThis is the debut album from Astral Tomb, a death metal band from the US.

I’ve enjoyed watching Astral Tomb develop their ghastly death metal sound, from 2020’s split with Cryptic Shift, Replicant, and Inoculation, to 2021’s EP Degradation of Human Consciousness, (which I honestly thought I had reviewed, but apparently not). Soulgazer is the band’s first album, and I have been looking forward to it. Continue reading “Astral Tomb – Soulgazer (Review)”

Borboropsis – Decorticated Burial of Delirium (Review)

Borboropsis - Decorticated Burial of DeliriumThis is the debut EP from US death/doom metal band Borboropsis.

This release offers up 24 minutes of atmospheric heaviness that holds a lot of promise for the future. The music combines cavernous old-school death metal with mood-focused slabs of doom, and it does this Continue reading “Borboropsis – Decorticated Burial of Delirium (Review)”

Nephren-Ka – From Agony to Transcendence (Review)

Nephren-Ka - From Agony to TranscendenceNephren-Ka are a French death metal band and this is their third album.

The return of Nephren-Ka sees them bring us a new lineup, (including a new singer), and a few more blackened influences. Other than that, we’re once again in for a brutal ride of Dune-flavoured death metal. I loved 2013’s The Fall of Omnius and 2017’s La Grande Guerre de L’Epice, and now From Agony to Transcendence looks set to inflate my already high impressions of this superlative band. Continue reading “Nephren-Ka – From Agony to Transcendence (Review)”

Killing Addiction – Mind of a New God (Review)

Killing Addiction - Mind of a New GodThis is the second album from US death metallers Killing Addiction.

Here comes the album I’ve been interested in hearing after 2014’s When Death Becomes Art and 2016’s Shores of Oblivion. It hasn’t disappointed. Continue reading “Killing Addiction – Mind of a New God (Review)”
