Conjureth – Majestic Dissolve (Review)

Conjureth - Majestic DissolveConjureth are a death metal band from the US and this is their debut album.

Here we have 37 minutes of old-school death metal. It’s of the oldest variety, and steeped in death metal tradition and lore.

The music here is inspired by the late 80s/early 90s scenes, and the songs are short and violent. The band’s take on the style is heavy on the death, but not without a sharp thrash edge. The tracks are full of nasty riffs and belligerent drumming.

Mostly fast and cruel, these songs sound so authentic and of their original time that this could almost be a lost recording from death metal’s classic days. However, Conjureth also occasionally have a technical component to them, which enhances the music’s bite and helps bring part of the music forward in time, at least somewhat.

If a mix of Morbid Angel and Possessed, with a touch of Bolt Thrower and Cannibal Corpse, floats your boat, then Majestic Dissolve is a very enjoyable slab of old-school death metal.

A recommended listen for anyone who wishes they had a time machine.
