American Standards – Anti-Melody (Review)

American StandardsAmerican Standards are a US hardcore band and this is their second album.

Here’s a band we’ve met before, and they impressed when we did. The Death of Rhythm and Blues stood out with its aggressive, angular hardcore. Continue reading “American Standards – Anti-Melody (Review)”

Gnarwolf – II (Review)

GnarwolfGnarwolf are a US hardcore band and this is their latest EP.

You’ve gotta like this kind of thing; less than 14 minutes of angular, chaotic hardcore. The band play it well and make one Hell of a noise. What’s not to like? Continue reading “Gnarwolf – II (Review)”

Primal Rite – Sensory Link to Pain (Review)

Primal RiteThis is the latest release from US hardcore bruisers Primal Rite.

This is a twisted crossover mix of hardcore and metal, weaving punk and death/thrash influences together into three furiously ugly tracks. Continue reading “Primal Rite – Sensory Link to Pain (Review)”

Jagged Vision – Death Is This World (Review)

Jagged VisionThis is the second album from Jagged Vision, a Norwegian metallic hardcore band.

As a starting point for Jagged Vision’s sound, imagine a band like Black Tusk or Doomriders, add in some All Pigs Must Die, and then coat the entire thing in a violent metallic hardcore sheen.

Sunlight’s Bane – The Blackest Volume: Like All the Earth Was Buried (Review)

Sunlight's BaneThis is the debut album from Sunlight’s Bane, a blackened sludge/grindcore band from the US.

This is nasty, raw and nihilistic music that wants nothing more than to terrify, scar and demoralise the listener. With a mix of Nails, Anaal Nathrakh, Hooded Menace, Aborted, Trap Them, Extreme Noise Terror, Primitive Man, Zao, and many others in their sound, Sunlight’s Bane have concocted an identity that’s very much their own and quite a hard one to accurately classify, if you care about such things. Continue reading “Sunlight’s Bane – The Blackest Volume: Like All the Earth Was Buried (Review)”

Call of the Void – AYFKM (Review)

Call of the VoidCall of the Void are a US hardcore/grindcore band and this is their latest EP.

Call of the Void operate from a mixture of hardcore, grind and sludge metal influences. This sees them taking all three, rolling them into a dense, dangerous ball and then throwing it as hard as they can at anyone close by.

It’s always good to hear the band. Continue reading “Call of the Void – AYFKM (Review)”
