The ugly, underground death metal onslaught of Bestial Hymns of Perversion is a gruesome and wondrous thing to behold. Brutal and raw, yet still with masses of macabre atmosphere, this is death metal for lovers of darkness and apocalyptic barbarity. For something as singularly nasty as this, I just had to find out more… Continue reading “Interview with Of Feather and Bone”

Interview with Apostle of Solitude
Apostle of Solitude are one of the world’s premier doom metal bands. Don’t just take my word for it, of course; check out their latest stunner of an album From Gold to Ash. This is a well-rounded and multifaceted album, one which just seems to get better and better the more you get to know it. I’m listening to it again as I type these words, and it really is the band’s best work to date.
The band’s founder Chuck Brown was nice enough to share a few words about their latest release… Continue reading “Interview with Apostle of Solitude”
Interview with Profane Burial
Profane Burial’s debut album The Rosewater Park Legend gets released at the end of this month, and I heartily recommend you get hold of it. It’s a forceful collection of orchestral black metal songs, all delivered with skill, passion, and obvious ability.
I once more had the pleasure of catching up with the talented André Aaslie about his music, so sit back, listen to the tunes, and learn more about Profane Burial… Continue reading “Interview with Profane Burial”
Interview with Tralineate
Tralineate’s debut album Ike Antz Leap is an orchestral/progressive death metal album that’s well-written, creative, and obviously crafted as a labour of love. If you haven’t heard it yet, make sure you give it a decent listen.
The man behind the band is named Chris Sanders, and he allowed me to delve behind the scenes of Ike Antz Leap. I just hope I didn’t keep him up… Continue reading “Interview with Tralineate”
Interview with Letters from the Colony
To my ears Vignette is a great example of what modern, forward-thinking metal should be all about in 2018. Heavy, hard-hitting, atmospheric, emotive…the list goes on. Letters from the Colony have created a thoroughly enjoyable slab of modern heaviness with their debut album, one which I’m very pleased to be able to find a bit more about courtesy of the band’s drummer and co-founder Jonas Sköld. Continue reading “Interview with Letters from the Colony”
Interview with Beldam
Baldam’s second album Pasung is a monstrous sludge metal beast that gets even better the louder you play it. It’s crushing, devastating stuff. It also has a core of well-written music at its dark heart, obscured by waves of thick grimy distortion and evil vocals. If you’re a fan of heavy, filthy music then this is one that you need to check out as a priority.
Founder Grahm Reynolds lets us into the world of Beldam, what makes the band tick and how energised he is at the moment… Continue reading “Interview with Beldam”
Interview with Harm’s Way
Have you checked out Harm’s Way’s latest album Posthuman yet? Well, if you’re a fan of modern heavy music with some good quirks and plenty of character, you should. I’m listening to it now before I head to the gym, and it’s making me feel sufficiently worked up. In a good way, of course.
So, let’s find out a bit more about what the band and their new album… Continue reading “Interview with Harm’s Way”
Interview with Monolithe
Monolithe’s latest album Nebula Septem is quite something. With a firm concept and a collection of songs that’s arguably the band’s most diverse and enjoyable yet, it seems that here is a band that can do no wrong and are simply getting better and better as time goes by.
Benoît Blin, who plays guitar in the band, was nice enough to go into detail about the album and what makes it what it is… Continue reading “Interview with Monolithe”
Interview with In Vain
The new In Vain album – Currents – is a progressive death metal treasure trove of sweeping music and grandiose structuring. Full of epic songs and engaging, sometimes eclectic delights, it’s a engrossing mix of melodic black/death metal mixed with progressive highlights. Well-written and extremely enjoyable, this is 42 minutes of quality music that I urge anyone reading to this to explore.
Lead guitarist Kjetil Pedersen was kind enough to answer some questions about the band and their latest opus… Continue reading “Interview with In Vain”
Interview with Hamferð
In my humble opinion, Hamferð have recently released an early contender for album of the year in their stunning latest album Támsins Likam. Yes, yes, I know; bold claims…it’s only January…blah blah blah, but I’d be shocked if this wasn’t a release that ends up getting some seriously high places on a lot of lists eventually. Time will tell, of course…
Anyway, all I can say is that I urge you in the strongest possible manner to check these guys out. If you’re partial to emotive, melancholy doom metal, with first-rate songwriting and some deathly bite, then this is a release you have to check out. Continue reading “Interview with Hamferð”
