Unborn Suffer – Nihilist (Review)

Unborn SufferUnborn Suffer are a deathgrind band from Poland, this is their fifth album.

Nihilist is 28 minutes of brutal death metal and grindcore, both mixed together and boiled alive to create a particularly dirty strain of deathgrind. It’s also quite a non-standard release – not because the band do anything wildly original, but because they’ve firmly stamped their music with their own mark.

To expand on this; the band have a rather unusual Continue reading “Unborn Suffer – Nihilist (Review)”

Urobilinemia – Wriggling Chrysalis of Metaphysical Grudge (Review)

UrobilinemiaUrobilinemia are a Japanese brutal death metal/deathgrind band. This is combination of their split with 妖神楽 (Ayakasi Kagura) and their debut EP.

Featuring a hard-to-decipher band logo and some quite striking cover artwork, the band make a good impression before you even listen to them. And once you do, all Hell breaks loose.

The songs on this release are short, brutal and technical, just what the evil doctor Continue reading “Urobilinemia – Wriggling Chrysalis of Metaphysical Grudge (Review)”

Ade – Carthago Delenda Est (Review)

AdeThis is the third album from Italy’s death metallers Ade.

Much in the same way that Nile are heavily influenced by ancient Egypt and incorporate musical influences from this into their sound and style, Ade do the same thing only their focus rests on ancient Rome.

These ancient influences come across in the music in a variety of ways, whether that’s incorporated into melodies and lyrics, (some of which are in Latin); layered in added orchestration and instruments; or even in some Continue reading “Ade – Carthago Delenda Est (Review)”

Neurogenic – Ouroboric Stagnation (Review)

NeurogenicThis is the debut album from international death metallers Neurogenic.

Featuring members of Indecent Excision, Derogation, Fleshbomb and Six Feet Under, as well as guests from members of Gutrot, Churchburn, Abnormality, Six Feet Under and Malignancy, you know that this is going to be a professional and capable release before you even listen to it.

When you do, you’re confronted with Continue reading “Neurogenic – Ouroboric Stagnation (Review)”

Oracles – Miserycorde (Review)

OraclesOracles are a metal band from Belgium, this is their debut album.

Featuring current and ex-members of Aborted, System Divide and Dimlight, as well as guests from current and ex-members of Black Dahlia Murder, Scar Symmetry, Nevermore and Arch Enemy, this is a release that’s something a little different and backed up by a wealth of experience. Continue reading “Oracles – Miserycorde (Review)”

Cicatrix – Suffocated Faith (Review)

CicatrixCicatrix are a Polish deathgrind band, and this is their second album.

Featuring 10 originals and 2 covers of Dead Infection and Terrorizer songs, Cicatrix wear their influences on their collective sleeves and deliver 29 minutes of utter carnage.

This is a mix of brutal death metal and ugly grindcore. The band know how to play fast, but Continue reading “Cicatrix – Suffocated Faith (Review)”

Unmerciful – Ravenous Impulse (Review)

UnmercifulUnmerciful are a brutal death metal band from the US and this is their second album.

Here we have a combination of relentlessly savage death metal mixed in with some USDM influences, giving the band some groove to go along with the pounding blast beats. I hear elements of Cannibal CorpseSuffocation, Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal in their sound – all upgraded with a thoroughly modern delivery and precision of assault.

However, it’s the speed that is the real thing here. Unmerciful like to play fast, that’s for sure. The drumming is hugely Continue reading “Unmerciful – Ravenous Impulse (Review)”

Wired Anxiety – The Delerium of Negation (Review)

Wired AnxietyThis is the second EP from Wired Anxiety, an Indian death metal band.

Don’t be fooled by the rather thrash metal-esque cover; this is brutal death metal of the most devastating variety.

With crushing rhythms, martial double bass and relentless blast beats, Wired Anxiety hammer their colours to the mast and fly the flag for brutality in no uncertain terms. Continue reading “Wired Anxiety – The Delerium of Negation (Review)”

Necroptic Engorgement – Realms of Incessant Bloodshed (Review)

Necroptic EngorgementNecroptic Engorgement are a death metal band from the US. This is their latest EP.

This is brutal death metal with a touch of deathgrind added for extra flavour.

Vocals are either high pitched screeches or deep, guttural growl-barks that sometimes sound unusually legible, but always sound unusually evil. Continue reading “Necroptic Engorgement – Realms of Incessant Bloodshed (Review)”

Human Vivisection – The Perpetual Gap (Review)

Human VivisectionHuman Vivisection are a death metal band from Belgium, this is their debut album.

This is brutal death metal replete with beatdowns and crushing groove; 35 minutes of brutality.

No matter how good an album like this actually is, (and some are certainly better than others), I still can’t help but always enjoy it to a point. The mindless brutality and lust for carnage that’s inherent in this kind of work is Continue reading “Human Vivisection – The Perpetual Gap (Review)”
