Sulphur Aeon – The Scythe of Cosmic Chaos (Review)

Sulphur Aeon - The Scythe of Cosmic ChaosSulphur Aeon are a German death metal band and this is their third album.

After the triumphant roar from the depths that was 2015’s Gateway to the Antisphere, (which I loved), this new one is greatly anticipated. It has not disappointed, either. Boasting another hypnotically engaging piece of artwork, the band are back and better than ever. Continue reading “Sulphur Aeon – The Scythe of Cosmic Chaos (Review)”

Engulf – Gold and Rust (Review)

EngulfThis is the second EP from Engulf, a death metal solo act from the US.

This 11-minute EP wastes no time in establishing the dominance of its brutal death metal assault. This is music that takes no prisoners in its quest to lay waste to everything and everyone around it. Continue reading “Engulf – Gold and Rust (Review)”

Vomitile – Pure Eternal Hate (Review)

VomitileVomitile are a death metal band from Cyprus and this is their third album.

War and slaughter, that’s what Vomitile offer us on Pure Eternal Hate. The album title and cover adequately portray Vomitile’s brand of punishing death metal, and they give us 37 minutes of material to become battered and bruised by. Continue reading “Vomitile – Pure Eternal Hate (Review)”

Demonic Obedience – Fatalistic Uprisal of Abhorrent Creation (Review)

Demonic ObedienceThis is the third album from Greek/UK blackened death metal band Demonic Obedience.

On Fatalistic Uprisal of Abhorrent Creation Demonic Obedience offer up 33 minutes of malignant blackened death metal. Depravity – Evil Upheaval (Review)

DepravityDepravity are an Australian death metal band and this is their debut album.

Featuring a member of Impiety/The Furor, this is 40 minutes of 90s-inspired death metal. Morbid Angel fans in particular should pay attention, but this is really for any fan of bands such as  Continue reading “Depravity – Evil Upheaval (Review)”

Strangle Wire – The Dark Triad (Review)

Strangle WireStrangle Wire are an Irish death metal band and this is their latest EP.

This is the follow up to the band’s debut release Narcissism, which was an enjoyable brief introduction to Strangle Wire’s brand of nastiness. They are now back, and I’ve pleased to say they have built on their initial promise. Both of the songs on the band’s first release have resurfaced on The Dark Triad, but now they’ve brought friends to the party too. Continue reading “Strangle Wire – The Dark Triad (Review)”

Savage Annihilation – Quand S’baisse la Croix du Blasphème (Review)

Savage AnnihilationSavage Annihilation are a French death metal band and this is their second album.

Savage Annihilation sound almost exactly as you imagine a band with this name would sound. It’s important to take note of the word ‘almost’ in that sentence, however, as there’s more going on here than you might initially think.
