Chaos Inception – Vengeance Evangel (Review)

Chaos Inception - Vengeance EvangelThis is the third album from US death metallers Chaos Inception.

Wow, I did not see this coming. 2012’s The Abrogation stood out with its quality, and I’ve periodically wondered over the years if we’d ever see another from Chaos Inception. I had long assumed not, but here it is – unheralded, and unexpected. Can Chaos Inception stand up to scrutiny in 2025? Continue reading “Chaos Inception – Vengeance Evangel (Review)”

Construct of Lethe – A Kindness Dealt in Venom (Review)

Construct of Lethe - A Kindness Dealt in VenomThis is the third album from US death metal band Construct of Lethe.

Construct of Lethe’s last album Exiler came out in 2018, and was a brutal affair of merciless death metal. The band have moved on since then, and A Kindness Dealt in Venom offers up a mix of death and black metal, with touches of doom, and further enriched by electronics, synths, and industrial elements. Aronious – Irkalla (Review)

Aronious - IrkallaThis is the second album from Aronious, a death metal band from the US.

Two things struck me about the band’s new release before I’d even pressed play – the first was the difference in length, (Irkalla‘s 41 minutes/8 tracks vs Perspicacity‘s 59 minutes/13 tracks), and the second was the significant lineup changes, including a new Continue reading “Aronious – Irkalla (Review)”

Spectrum of Delusion – Neoconception (Review)

Spectrum of Delusion - NeoconceptionThis is the second album from Spectrum of Delusion, a death metal band from the Netherlands.

Neoconception features 44 minutes of technical/progressive death metal. The promo blurb states that “Neoconception will strongly appeal to fans of groups such as Spawn of Possession, Suffocation, Obscura, Defeated Sanity, The Faceless, Blotted Science, and Nile“. Hard to argue, although I’d also add groups like Gorod, Beyond Creation, and Aronious. Continue reading “Spectrum of Delusion – Neoconception (Review)”

Aronious – Perspicacity (Review)

Aronious - PerspicacityThis is the debut album from US death metallers Aronious.

Aronious play non-typical progressive/technical death metal, and on Perspicacity they have gifted us with 59 minutes of the stuff. Continue reading “Aronious – Perspicacity (Review)”
