Brutally Deceased are from the Czech Republic and play death metal, this is their third album.
The band features members and ex-members of Heaving Earth and Jig-Ai, it seems. I really, really enjoyed the band’s debut album, Dead Lovers’ Guide, but missed their second, so on this new release it’s way overdue for me to get reacquainted with the band. Continue reading “Brutally Deceased – Satanic Corpse (Review)”
This is the debut EP from US death metallers Deathcrown.
Raw, nasty, old-school death metal with a Swedish-styled delivery, plenty of groove, lightning solos and a modern freshness? Yes please!
The above description is all you need to know in many ways, but don’t make the mistake of dismissing Deathcrown as just another Swedish death metal clone, that would be a a grave injustice.
Sure, they play the style with Continue reading “Deathcrown – Living Hell (Review)”
Hailing from Sweden, this is the third album from death metallers Decomposed.
The band’s 2014 album Devouring was hugely enjoyable. Firmly rooted in old-school Swedish death metal, it delivered 36 minutes of very satisfyingly crushing music.
Fast forward to 2016, and we have Wither; 38 minutes of the same kind of crushing, satisfying death metal. Continue reading “Decomposed – Wither (Review)”
Harm are a German death metal band and this is their second album.
It’s been a few years since Harm’s 2013 debut album Cadaver Christi first landed like a high-explosive shell, and since then we’ve been hungry for more. Well, wait no longer, as Harm are back.
What I like about Harm is how Continue reading “Harm – The Evil (Review)”
This is the debut EP from this international, (Swedish/Spanish), death metal band.
Inert play old-school/Swedish death metal, taking influence from the likes of Dismember, Grave, Bloodbath and Entombed.
Dark growls sound as if something monolithic is being dragged through the earth. The singer Continue reading “Inert – Obliteration of the Self (Review)”
This is the second album from Polish death metallers The Dead Goats.
Yes yes, I’m a sucker for Swedish death metal, we know this. The Dead Goats already impressed me with their last EP, Don’t Go in the Tomb, and now they return with a full 44 minutes of material. Hurrah!
Alright, the band may not be from Sweden, but Continue reading “The Dead Goats – All of Them Witches (Review)”
This is the third album from Dawn of Disease, a German death metal band.
Dawn of Disease seem to have honed their songwriting skills and are now channelling the spirit of 90s song-based death metal. It’s catchy, memorable and there’s more than a few twisting melodies and riffs that will stick in your head long after it’s stopped playing. Continue reading “Dawn of Disease – Worship the Grave (Review)”
This is the latest EP from these Swedish death metal legends. Paganizer are always a welcome listen.
Paganizer clearly aren’t messing around on this release. With four songs in just under 14 minutes, this is all about classic-styled Swedish death metal, played with the skill of veterans by the mastercrafters Continue reading “Paganizer – On the Outskirts of Hades (Review)”
Hellsworn are a death metal band from the UK. This is their debut EP from a few years ago, re-released with a bonus track.
This may be from the UK, but it has SWEDISH DEATH METAL stamped all over it in giant, ugly letters. It’s raw, filthy and has enough chainsaws to keep any fan of the style happy.
Yes, yes, I know; do we really need another band playing this kind of thing? Well, as I sit here listening to it at the moment, I can only conclude that we do, as they’re currently Continue reading “Hellsworn – Repulsive Existence (Review)”
Vanhelgd are a Swedish death metal band and this is their fourth album.
The band’s third album Relics of Sulphur Salvation was solid, authentic Swedish death metal with chainsaw guitars and a sharp sense of melody.
On this new album the band continue to play the style that made their previous release so enjoyable, only I’d say that Continue reading “Vanhelgd – Temple of Phobos (Review)”
