Pig’s Blood – A Flock Slaughtered (Review)
This is the second album from Pig’s Blood, a death metal band from the US.
Here we have 32 minutes of raw, underground death metal, dripping with filth and agony and reeking of unholy energies. This is brutal, gnarled, and thoroughly evil. Continue reading “Pig’s Blood – A Flock Slaughtered (Review)”
Ossuarium – Living Tomb (Review)
This is the debut album from US death metallers Ossuarium.
Ossuarium play old-school death metal with a corrupting doom influence, so much so that to term this death/doom wouldn’t be completely inappropriate. Continue reading “Ossuarium – Living Tomb (Review)”
Eteritus – Order of Death (Review)
This is the second album from Polish deathmetallers Eteritus.
Sucker for Scandinavian-styled death metal that I am, I really enjoyed 2016’s Following the Ancient Path, so when I saw this new slab of filth appear I knew I had to give it a listen. Continue reading “Eteritus – Order of Death (Review)”
Cerebrum – Iridium (Review)
Cerebrum are a Greek death metal band and this is their third album.
Cerebrum play an aggressive, fluid brand of technical death metal. Sometimes intense, sometimes adventurous, but not inaccessible for the average metalhead, Iridium is a solid slab of well-crafted death metal. Continue reading “Cerebrum – Iridium (Review)”
Master – Vindictive Miscreant (Review)
This is the fourteenth album from veteran US death metallers Master.
I really got on well with 2013’s The Witchhunt, so was pleased when this one appeared for my listening pleasure. Continue reading “Master – Vindictive Miscreant (Review)”
Chapel of Disease – …And as We Have Seen the Storm, We Have Embraced the Eye (Review)
Chapel of Disease are a German death metal band and this is their third album.
2015’s The Mysterious Ways of Repetitive Art stood out for its dark individuality and bleak delivery. Here was a band that took the old-school death metal template and added an atmospheric, sometimes doom-laden twist to it. It was a very effective record. Continue reading “Chapel of Disease – …And as We Have Seen the Storm, We Have Embraced the Eye (Review)”
Corpsessed – Impetus of Death (Review)
This is the second album from Corpsessed, a Finnish death metal band.
It’s seems like a very long time since 2014’s Abysmal Thresholds was released on an unsuspecting world, so it’s great to finally have some new material unleashed from Corpsessed. Their debut remains a favourite of mine, so this new one – 48 minutes of material – is very well-received. Continue reading “Corpsessed – Impetus of Death (Review)”
Cancer – Shadow Gripped (Review)
This is the sixth album from Cancer, a UK death metal band.
This is Cancer’s first album in 13 years, and their first to feature their original lineup in 23 years. Lasting 44 minutes, Cancer’s newest album contains old-school death metal, with plenty of brutality and viciousness. Continue reading “Cancer – Shadow Gripped (Review)”
Outer Heaven – Realms of Eternal Decay (Review)
This is the debut album from US death metallers Outer Heaven.
Here we have 33 minutes of old-school death metal, replete with beefy riffs, crushing groove, monstrous growls, and intense aggression. Continue reading “Outer Heaven – Realms of Eternal Decay (Review)”
