Interview with Draghkar

Ever since I first heard the band’s debut demo I’ve been a big fan of Draghkar. In a wide ocean of faceless death metal here is a band that stands out, and seem to be improving with every release. Draghkar’s latest is a full EP named The Endless Howling Abyss. Make sure you grab a copy when it’s released on July 27th, as it’s pretty damn killer.

Interview with Moonreich

The latest Moonreich album – Fugue – is an impressive collection of dark, violent black metal songs. However, there’s more to Moonreich than just sonic extremity, and Fugue is layered with the kind of depth and nuance that makes for a very moreish album. Wide-ranging and multifaceted, while being wrapped up in tightly focused aggression, Fugue is an album that’s a very strong release all-round.

Interview with Vomitile

Vomitile’s third album Pure Eternal Hate brings the death metal – hard, fast, and heavy. There’s no messing around on this release. Interview with Gutter Instinct

Gutter Instinct just keep getting better and better. There, I said it. From the rumbling Swedish death metal monstrosity of The Insurrection, to the blackened death metal of Age of the Fanatics, and now the band’s latest grim opus Heirs of Sisyphus, Gutter Instinct are like an unstoppable juggernaut of carnage and mayhem.

Heirs of Sisyphus sees the band travel even further down the blackened path, while still retaining their core brutality. It’s a real ugly joy to listen to, and lets the listener completely wallow in aggression and darkness for an immersive 46 minutes of total morbid atmosphere and guttural destruction.

Blackwater Holylight’s self titled debut album is a gorgeous mix of heartfelt vocals, hard rock and psychedelia, and dashes of old-school doom. A rich and textured collection of highly emotive songs, the album is warm and ethereal, easily impressing with its easy atmosphere and diverse songwriting. It’s definitely a keeper.
