Sørgelig – Φθορά (Review)

Sørgelig - ΦθοράSørgelig are a Greek black metal band and this is their third album.

I love Isolert, and also really like Insanity Cult. Why do I mention that here? Simply because Sørgelig is made up of members of these two bands, (plus a guitarist who is in neither). I haven’t caught up with Sørgelig since 2018’s Apostate, but the band have been busy since then with EPs, a split, and second album. Φθορά is their third, and a great opportunity to become reacquainted with their brand of hostile malice. Continue reading “Sørgelig – Φθορά (Review)”

Spectral Wound – Songs of Blood and Mire (Review)

Spectral Wound - Songs of Blood and MireThis is the fourth album from Canadian black metallers Spectral Wound.

Songs of Blood and Mire boasts 44 minutes of lethal black metal. Doedsvangr – Serpents ov Old (Review)

Doedsvangr - Serpents ov OldDoedsvangr are a black metal band from Norway/Finland and this is their second album.

2017’s Satan ov Suns was an enjoyable record, so I’m glad we now have a new album of occult second wave black metal fury to explore. Made by musicians with a huge range of experience, (having spent time in bands such as Nordjevel, Behexen, Aosoth, Tsjuder, Sargeist, Horna, Nightbringer, Antaeus,  and Temple of Baal, to name just a handful), Serpents ov Old is the sound of a group that really know what they’re doing with the style.
