This is the eighth album from French doom band Monarch.
There may only be five songs on this release, but don’t let that deceive you – there’s almost 68 minutes of music on Never Forever. Continue reading “Monarch – Never Forever (Review)”

This is the latest EP from Swiss progressive/post-metal band Nevborn.
A progressive post-metal EP that is just a single 19 minute song? Count me in! What’s that? It also features the supreme vocal talents of the singer of The Ocean? Stop, stop, you’re just overselling it now… Continue reading “Nevborn – Daidalos (Review)”
Wren are a UK sludge/post-metal band and this is their debut album.
I’ve enjoyed watching Wren develop across their 2015 split with Irk and then on their 2016 EP Host. Both releases impressed me and marked them out as ones to watch, placing them firmly on my radar. Well, it’s now 2017 and they’ve finally released their debut full length. It has been more than worth the wait. Continue reading “Wren – Auburn Rule (Review)”

Obscure Sphinx are a post-metal/progressive doom band from Poland. This is their third album.
2013’s Void Mother was one of my favourite albums of that year. Fast forward 3 years and my anticipation for Epitaphs is at fever pitch.
Obscure Sphinx are one of those oh-so-rare bands that are very definitely leaders and not followers. How they haven’t been Continue reading “Obscure Sphinx – Epitaphs (Review)”
This is the twelfth edition of the UK’s Damnation Festival, and although it may be cold outside, inside there’s more than enough incendiary metal to heat things up. Hopefully the recent preview whetted your appetite, and now it’s time to see how the real thing turned out…
It’s with great excitement and expectation that I await Attan’s arrival. From Nothing is such a colossal opening statement for a band that I can’t wait to see how it translates into the live environment. Continue reading “Damnation Festival – Leeds University, 05/11/16 (Live Review)”
