Deathless Void - The Voluptuous Fire of SinThis is the debut album from Deathless Void, a black metal band from the Netherlands.

The Voluptuous Fire of Sin contains 39 minutes of aggressive black metal. Ignobleth – Voidspawn Sacrifice (Review)

Ignobleth - Voidspawn SacrificeThis is the debut EP from Ignobleth, an Italian black/death metal band.

Here’s we have a passionate slab of old-school darkness. Ignobleth play war metal brutality that’s grim and sinister. Voidspawn Sacrifice combines black and death metal – with a slight leaning towards the latter – into 15 enjoyable minutes. Continue reading “Ignobleth – Voidspawn Sacrifice (Review)”

Gun Girl – Vengeant Siege of Unholy Divinity (Review)

Gun Girl - Vengeant Siege of Unholy DivinityThis is the debut album from US one-woman black/death metal band Gun Girl.

What’s this? Another project by the same artist that brought us the amazing Lust Hag? Sign me up! Vengeant Siege of Unholy Divinity is 24 minutes of ugliness and mayhem. It’s harsh and unforgiving, and just wants to destroy. Continue reading “Gun Girl – Vengeant Siege of Unholy Divinity (Review)”

Cryfemal – La Gran Victoria del Mal (Review)

Cryfemal - La Gran Victoria Del MalCryfemal are a Spanish black metal band and this is their ninth album.

We’re going back to 2023 for this one. Why? Well, simply because while I’ve been aware of Cryfemal for some time, I’ve never heard them, so when I recently received the promo for this, I really wanted to check it out. So I did, and it made a big impression. Continue reading “Cryfemal – La Gran Victoria del Mal (Review)”

Heresiarch – Edifice (Review)

Heresiarch - EdificeThis is the second album from New Zealand black/death metallers Heresiarch.

Prior to Edifice my first and only encounter with Heresiarch was on their 2019 split release – Scorn Coalescence – with Serpents Athirst, Genocide Shrines, and Trepanation, so this new album seemed like a good opportunity to find out what Heresiarch are capable of with a full album. Continue reading “Heresiarch – Edifice (Review)”

Diabolic Oath – Oracular Hexations (Review)

Diabolic Oath - Oracular HexationsThis is the second album from US black/death metal band Diabolic Oath.

After enjoying Diabolic Oath’s Divinations split with Aberration not so long ago, I’m both surprised and pleased that Oracular Hexations has come along so quickly. Clocking in at 36 minutes, it’s a violent, barbaric mix of brutal black metal and hideous death metal. Continue reading “Diabolic Oath – Oracular Hexations (Review)”

Ritual Clearing – Penitence (Review)

Invultation – Feral Legion (Review)

Invultation - Feral LegionThis is the third album from Invultation, a solo death metal band from the US.

This is some nasty stuff. Feral Legion is a 37-minute bestial war metal album that assaults the listener with its death metal bite and sharp blackened claws. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill album though, and Invultation might surprise you. Continue reading “Invultation – Feral Legion (Review)”

Reaper Festival 2023 – Day One: Saturday – Ultha/Darkher/Coscradh/Dawn Ray’d/The Sun’s Journey Through the Night/Ruadh/Calligram/Cairns – Derby The Hairy Dog, 29/07/23 (Live Review)

Reaper Festival 2023I’ve never been to The Hairy Dog before, but it’s a great venue with a good vibe and good sound system. I don’t actually think I’ve ever been to Derby before at all, but if anything was going to entice me here, it was this year’s Reaper Festival, brought to us by the wonderful Reaper Agency UK. It was a great day overall, and I’d gladly attend such a well-organised show again. Sadly I could only make day one of the festival, which is a shame, as day two has many great bands too.
