Interview with Defecto

Defecto Logo

One listen to Defecto’s latest release – Nemesis – will have you banging your head and singing along to their infectious metal faster than you can say “stadium-friendly”. It’s an album that’s a very meaty listen, one that will not only satisfy your immediate cravings for something tasty, but will also leave you full and satisfied afterwards.

Main man Nicklas Sonne tells us a bit more about his band, how it came to be, and the beast that is Nemesis… Continue reading “Interview with Defecto”

Record Label Interview – Gerald Milani of Les Acteurs de L’Ombre Productions

LADLO Header

There is a wealth of top quality extreme metal located in France, and Les Acteurs de L’Ombre Productions is one of my favourite French labels that’s primarily dedicated to uncovering it. I’ve watched them develop and flourish over the years, producing some first-rate albums that I regularly listen to and enjoy. To my mind, if it’s being put out by Les Acteurs de L’Ombre Productions, then it’s almost certainly going to be worth listening to.

The label has almost been around for ten years at this point, so it seemed like a fitting time to get to know a bit more about the label that has been responsible for unleashing so much quality underground music on the world.

Below are some words from the label manager Gerald Milani. So sit back, have a listen to the label’s sampler, and learn a bit about Les Acteurs de L’Ombre Productions…

Interview with WVRM

WVRM Header

WVRM’s latest EP Can You Hear the Wind Howl may only last a very brief nine minutes, but it’s 9 minutes of savage darkness and cutting, lethal ferocity. Hyper-aggressive and full of the kind of pitch-black extremity we can’t get enough of here at Wonderbox Metal, WVRM have seriously impressed with this very enjoyable collection of malignant, brutally nasty tunes.

Yes, this was very definitely a band to find out more about… Continue reading “Interview with WVRM”

Interview with Starsoup

Starsoup Header

After a wait of far too long, the talented Alexey Markov has finally returned with a new Starsoup album – Castles of Sand. I’m a huge fan of the band’s first release Bazaar of Wonders, and I have to say that this new one is just as good, if not better. I wanted to know a bit more about Starsoup in 2017, so let’s delve right in… Continue reading “Interview with Starsoup”

Interview with Schloff Guitars & Basses – Arne Uekert of Ctulu

Schloff Logo

You may be familiar with the work of Arne Uekert from German black metal band Ctulu, which is a personal favourite of mine, (see some reviews here, here, and here). What you may not be aware of, however, is Arne’s involvement in Schloff Guitars & Basses, so if you play an instrument then this might be of interest to you. Continue reading “Interview with Schloff Guitars & Basses – Arne Uekert of Ctulu”

Interview with Helpless

Helpless Header

I love savage, ultra-aggressive music, especially when played with substance and obvious passion. Which is why I love Helpless. Their debut album Debt is a scorching, visceral maelstrom of nastiness, one which delivers 22 minutes of ferocity and heaviness.

Let’s dig a little deeper with the band’s bassist Steve Waldron… Continue reading “Interview with Helpless”

Interview with Low Flying Hawks

Low Flying Hawks Logo

The doom metal of Low Flying Hawk’s latest album Genkaku is dreamy and sublime; definitely worth checking out if you’re into the style. The songs are moody and atmospheric, with the band’s slow, mournful performance resulting in very emotive tracks of moody, affecting metal.

Have a listen to the album while you also have a read of the below. Continue reading “Interview with Low Flying Hawks”

Interview with Skies in Motion

Skies in Motion Header

Skies In Motion are very close to unleashing their fiery debut album Life Lessons. Full of emotive power and forceful energy, the songs on this release hit the spot quite nicely if you’re someone with a taste for modern metallic hardcore. I’m listening to it again now, and it’s a bloody hugely infectious listen I must say. You’ve got to check it out.

Without further ado, let’s find out a bit more about what makes this band tick… Continue reading “Interview with Skies in Motion”

Interview with Integral

IntegralItalian modern death metal band Integral’s debut album Resilience is a strong one. I’m listening to it again as I type these words, and it has a lot to recommend itself. Don’t believe me? Just listen to the embedded Bandcamp player at the bottom of this interview – the band easily make their own compelling case for priority airplay time as soon as you press play.

The drummer of Integral, Agostino Buttarelli, was nice enough to give us a bit more info on this relatively fresh new band. Check it out.
