This is the debut album of Spanish grindcore band Deathcontrol.
Featuring an ex-member of Machetazo, Deathcontrol play a mix of old-school grindcore and experimental noisecore. The Endless Echo of His Own Litany contains 17 minutes of material, divided between the two styles; six grind songs, five noisecore tracks.
The grindcore songs are a portal into the past, into the formative days of the style. Laced with elements of hardcore, thrash, and death metal, they are raw and harsh. The songs are authentic displays of grinding fury, dishing out brutality and punishment with impunity. Well-written, with an understanding of the genre, Deathcode’s music hits the spot. Your guide for this trip into deep time is a list of bands such as Brutal Truth, Terrorizer, Extreme Noise Terror, Cripple Bastards, etc.
The noisecore tracks are a nightmare vision of the future, where form and structure are on the way to breaking down. They’re a collection of different sounds and noises that are combined with blasting intensity, free-form savagery, or apocalyptic moodbuilding. It’s nasty stuff. Your guide for this trip into the future of extremity is a list of bands such as thekevorkiansolution, Discordance Axis, Full of Hell, Knoll, etc.
The Endless Echo of His Litany is a very enjoyable record to get smacked around by. I like that it flips between styles as it runs through its tracklist. Both are two sides of the same coin, and work well together. The bulk of the material is of the old-school style, but the brief noisecore excursions are potent, and I’d definitely be keen to hear more of this side of Deathcontrol in the future.
Very highly recommended.
