Inter Feces et Urinam Nascimur sort of sounds like what would happen if Darkthrone embraced a love of Scandinavian d-beat and produced one massively pissed off record. Add in some elements of crusty death metal and grindcore and you have 23 minutes of red-hot anger.
Categorising a band like this is tricky – is it black metal? Is it hardcore? Crust? Well, it’s all of them, really. Just listen to the damn thing.
Blackened grooves and d-beat crust merges with some old-school riffery and vocals that are so savage they leave marks. The various influences that have gone into this release mean it’s an album that has its own personality stamped on its core.
Some bands that play a blackened hardcore/crust style end up quite samey. Not so with Nuisible. For such a relatively short release there’s a healthy amount of diversity in the ways that they can flay your skin from your bones. Different speeds, moods, sub-genres, ideas, etc. are all used, meaning that each of the tracks on Inter Feces et Urinam Nascimur actually has its own identity and charisma, which is not always an easy thing to achieve.
The songs are surprisingly catchy too. Although, in retrospect, as they effectively combine Darkthrone and Scandinavian hardcore/metal, (there’s the odd touch of At the Gates here in some of the riffs too), it shouldn’t come as much of a shock that there’s quite a few hooks here.
I really enjoyed this. Nuisible have impressed. Hopefully they’ll get the support they deserve.
