Lifesick – Loved by None, Hated by All (Review)

Lifesick - Loved by None, Hated by AllThis is the fourth album by Danish metallic hardcore band LIfesick.

I enjoyed Lifesick when I saw them earlier this year supporting Cabal, so knew I wanted to check out the 34 minutes of Loved by None, Hated by All when it appeared.

Loved by None, Hated by All is the sound of anger and rage, as channelled through meaty metallic hardcore heaviness. The music has an old-school hardcore heart, one that’s been beefed up by metallic elements and the chainsaw touch of Swedish death metal. The album has been further enhanced by noise/industrial elements here and there that provide extra detail and texture to the muscular music. It’s an effective combination. It reminds me in some ways of listening to bands like Born from Pain, Sworn Enemy, and Throwdown in the mid 00s.

The songs are aggressive and belligerent. They are packed with crushing riffs, making for music that demands the listener move hard. There is a good mix of dynamic energies, mid-paced heaviness, winding melodic highlights, monolithic beat downs, slow pulverising chugs, and blasting ferocity on display. It’s designed for the live environment and for gym sessions, and listening to Lifesick should power many more PRs in the latter. New bench press record attempt? Stick on Loved by None, Hated by All. Done.

Lifesick have unleashed a collection of snarling, old-school metallic hardcore songs on the world, and it’s very enjoyable. Recommended for fans of bands such as Nails, Trap Them, All Pigs Must Die, Mastiff, etc
