This is the debut EP from UK death metal band Disgracing.
Introducing the world to Disgracing’s brand of brutal death metal comes Descension into Despair – 19 minutes of barbaric savagery and bone-crushing heaviness.
Disgracing play brutal death metal that’s merciless and nasty. It’s raw and aggressive, with a slamming hardcore-infused edge that makes you want to jump around like a maniac. There is also a grindcore intensity to parts of the release that works well for the band. Taken together, Disgracing make a huge mess of the place as they stomp, vomit, defecate, and burn across the EP’s duration.
Six tracks in 19 minutes means that the songs are short, unforgiving, and harsh. They blast and groove with underground passion, showcasing a knowledge and understanding of the style that’s infectious. Disgracing aren’t short on riffs either, delivering a bit more variety in this area than many brutal death metal bands manage. The vocals consist of pignoise gutturals and serrated screams, with the latter increasing the grind feel, especially when the band speed up and absolutely rage.
Descension into Despair is an endearing, enjoyable work. Disgracing clearly love what they’re doing, and this translates into songs that are energetic and fun. This first EP is a promising start for the band, and hopefully bodes well for the future. Until then, enjoy it in its own right, as Descension into Despair is a brutally entertaining way to spend 20 minutes.
