This is the debut album from international death metal band Asinhell.
Impii Hora is a 39-minute love letter to Swedeath’s golden days. Asinhell clearly know the style intimately, and across these 10 tracks lay waste with their song-focused approach to death metal carnage.
Do you yearn for more old-school Swedish death metal in your life? Of course you do. Enter Impii Hora. This entire album is a smack in the face with an iron fist, and of course that’s something you’d want. Okay, I confess, it’s not 100% played in the Swedish style, as you can also hear other influences too, (Bolt Thrower, Unleashed, Death, Autopsy, and Obituary, for example, come to mind), but the Swedish one is the dominant force.
Jam-packed with solid death metal tunes, killer riffs, macabre atmospheres, and murderous vocals, Impii Hora is a feast of classic meaty death metal goodness. Honestly, the style may be old and jaded, but when it’s played with passion and boasts the sort of strong songs that you’ll find on this platter, then it’s hard to resist
This is a collection of songs filled with hooks and catchy heaviness. Designed to both stick in the mind and ignite the mosh pit, Impii Hora rumbles along at a fiercely enjoyable rate, crumbling buildings with its weighty presence, and delivering the sort of timeless death metal that I can’t help but lap up.
Asinhell’s debut album is effortlessly good fun. It’s heavy, it’s covered in hooks, and slays with impunity. Impii Hora is simply a crushingly good album, so dust off your chainsaws and get ready for action.
Very highly recommended.
