Bloodthirst – I Am Part of That Power Which Eternally Wills Evil and Eternally Works Wrong (Review)

Bloodthirst - I Am Part of That Power Which Eternally Wills Evil and Eternally Works WrongThis is the fourth album from Polish blackened thrashers Bloodthirst.

Blackened thrash metal frequently disappoints me. I think I just expect more than I get, as the mix of black and thrash metal seems to usually end up lacking the power of either. Bloodthirst are different, however, as both Chalice of Contempt and Glorious Sinners demonstrated to me quite effectively.

Savage and powerful, Bloodthirst’s blackthrash combines the icy fury of black metal with the spiky aggression of thrash. The songs on their latest album are well-written and show a band that have a good grasp of not only both core styles, but also of how to smash them together and not have it sounding like a weak mess.

The songs are frenetic and energetic, with barbed riffs, violent drums, and feral vocals tearing out with unhinged abandon. The songwriting never lets things get too out of control, however, and the band aren’t afraid of a good hook, striking melody, or memorable riff.

This album contains 36 minutes of gloriously virile blackened thrash metal that will knock your teeth out.
