Undergang – De Syv Stadier af Fordærv (Review)

Undergang are a death metal band from Denmark and this is their latest EP.

As the name might suggest, De Syv Stadier af Fordærv contains seven tracks, with a total duration of 21 minutes.

This is caveman death metal that just wants to crush skulls and rip through entrails. Undergang go for the kill with confident barbarity, tearing out songs that last just long enough to deliver the killing blow, and no more.

The band’s gruesome death metal is merciless and ugly. It ranges from grinding assault to mid-paced battery to slow inevitable crush. The music is brutal and unforgiving, powered forth by endless riffs and the sort of disgustingly horrid growls that just want to swallow you whole. Veering between bursts of putrid speed and riff-focused heaviness, while also occasionally throwing some morbid doom into the mix, these songs are easy to enjoy if you like your death metal ancient and foul.
