Ecchymosis are frighteningly good at what they do, and across 27 minutes of murderous intensity they utterly annihilate the competition.
This is some Grade A ugly brutality right here. Ecchymosis dish out gore-drenched brutal death metal of the most hideously hostile kind. It’s nasty, horrible, unfriendly stuff through and through. It slams, it hyperblasts, it crushes, it flays skin.
There’s more here than meets the eye too. Dig beneath the malevolent production, look behind the inhuman drumming, (with its abrasive snare sound), and peer underneath the layers of gore and rotting flesh, and you’ll find a band that actually know how to write songs. There’s substance to this barbaric attack. There’s a complete disregard for anything even approaching compromise, but that doesn’t prevent Thanatocorporeal Sculptures of Cryogenic Excruciation from boasting its fair share of quality riffs, engaging structures, energetic dynamics, and bloodsoaked hooks.
The songwriting and attention to gruesome detail is ultimately what makes Thanatocorporeal Sculptures of Cryogenic Excruciation stand apart from its peers. On the surface of it Ecchymosis might not seem to be offering anything different to any number of similar acts, but a closer look reveals the truth of the matter; they’re simply better than most. Ecchymosis know how to write brutal death metal that exemplifies what this style is capable of in the right hands.

It’s the sort of record that’s hard to stay still to, a record that just demands you bounce around like there’s no tomorrow, until your legs break and your head falls off.
