Re-Buried – Flesh Mourning (Review)

Re-Buried - Flesh MourningThis is the second album from US death metal band Re-Buried.

Following on from 2021’s split with Deconsecration and 2023’s Repulsive Nature, Flesh Mourning contains 30 minutes of new material from Re-Buried. If you’re a fan of death metal, there is a lot to like here.

Re-Buried’s old-school death metal is disgustingly good fun. It’s heavy, filthy, and boasts a sound strong enough to kick in the door and cause all kinds of carnage and mayhem.

The songs are well-written, fusing together chunky riffs, doom-drenched misery, and guttural growls into music that crushes the listener without remorse. There’s a compelling blend here of gruesome nastiness and hooked aggression that’s been skilfully mixed with dark macabre atmosphere. Re-Buried know their trade, and have the tools to achieve their putrid goals.

Flesh Mourning is of a quality level such that you know you’ll leave the album covered in blood, but satisfied. Re-Buried frequently hit the spot as they go about their grisly work, and then tear it open with vicious glee. Brutally engaging, Re-Buried’s new collection of scorchers is an easy record to enjoy if you’re an old-school death metal fanatic.

Highly recommended.
