Lvme – Of Sinful Nature (Review)

Lvme - Of Sinful NatureThis is the second album from international black metal band Lvme.

Of Sinful Nature contains 45 minutes of esoteric and mysterious black metal. Taking influence from traditional black metal and then incorporating modern elements into it, Lvme’s music will be of interest to fans of bands such as Funeral Mist, Deathspell Omega, Mayhem, Dødsengel, Nightbringer, Verberis, and Blaze of Perdition.

Of Sinful Nature offers an engagingly absorbing experience that ranges between the violent, the atmospheric, and the ritualistic. The album benefits from instant appeal blackened aggression, a deeper longevity born from its well-developed malevolent auras, and a sinister character that is almost as if listening to these five songs is a ceremonial act in and of itself.

The songs are well-crafted and well-presented, with songwriting that effectively balances its component parts to great effect. Of Sinful Nature is an intense and visceral journey into the abyss, one haunted by an otherworldly presence that speaks of occult blasphemies lurking just out of sight.

Lvme present their sophisticated blackened art in the best possible light, with a recording that’s as inviting as it is satisfying to listen to. For an album that courses with such dark energies, and is riven with intricate complexities that could easily be missed upon first encounter, the album’s production choices really enhance it as a whole.

Of Sinful Nature is an exemplary record showcasing Lvme’s ability to take the essence of the original second wave black metal style and make it their own. Crawling with malefic darkness that sounds like it is hiding a sentient hunger for manifesting the end of times, Of Sinful Nature is an essential listen for lovers of obscure black metal art.
