Rotten Sound – Mass Extinction (Review)

Rotten Sound - Mass ExtinctionThis is the latest EP from Finnish grindcore legends Rotten Sound.

GRRIIIIINNNDDDDDDDDDDD! Hell yeah. This is what it’s all about. eight tracks in 10 minutes. Rotten Sound rage and burn all before them, and it’s devastatingly good fun. A quick shout out to 2018’s Suffer to Abuse and 2023’s Apocalypse, but other than that let’s get right down to business.

This is a short, nasty burst of brutal harsh aggression, and it’s just great. The songs may not be long, but they don’t lack impact. Rotten Sound’s combination of feral blasting and lethal groove firmly destroys the opposition wherever it’s to be found.

The fury is real, and each track is an exemplar of destruction and carnage. This certainly isn’t the best or most insightful review I’ve ever written, I admit, but it’s hard to not get carried away with my sheer enthusiasm for this. I’ve really enjoyed trying to focus on grindcore a bit more again this year, (relatively speaking), and Mass Extinction came at the right time. Rotten Sound just rule. So there.

If you know what to expect from Rotten Sound, you know what to expect from Mass Extinction, and you wouldn’t want it any other way. If high quality, readily enjoyable grindcore mayhem is your thing, then this is for you.

Essential listening. What’s not to like? GRRIIIIINNNDDDDDDDDDDD!
