This is the tenth album from Greek heavy/power metal band Firewind.
Brought to us be current and ex-members of bands such as Dream Evil, Kamelot, Nightrage, Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind bring a lot of talent and experience to the party. Across 43 minutes they deliver ten tracks of classic metallic songcraft, (one of which is a cover song).
Stand United is a solid slab of good old fashion metallic fun. With a decent dose of 80s hard rock and plenty of heavy and power metal vintage, this is a joyously good collection of tracks. Honestly, it’s hard to dislike something like this unless you really just aren’t into the style.
The songs are well-written by people that know how to craft a decent tune. Packed with virtuoso guitar heroics, anthemic choruses, bright synth highlights, energetic catchiness, and all-round quality songsmithing, Stand United is easy to get behind. There are more hooks here than something very hooked indeed. Stand United is an uplifting and positive experience. It can’t fail to provoke a big grin to spontaneously appear on my face, as I bask in the glory of properly rendered hard rocking METAL.
Firewind have created an easily digested and enjoyable record. If you like your classic metal replete with 80s hard rock influences and buckets of good choruses, then this is for you.
