Kohnerah are a death metal band from the US and this is their debut album.
Here we have a 33-minute death metal album that doesn’t mess around. Packed with spiked riffs and slaughterous growls, Kohnerah have birthed a monster.
Kohnerah play a form of death metal that’s ferocious and heavy. The riffs are fast and lethal, and the drumming precise. The deep growls are harsh and monstrous, and the songs all slay. Whether playing fast or mid-paced, the band put their all into the music. The blast beats are pulverising, and the slower parts crushing. Kohnerah have an ear for a good riff, and there are plenty of memorable and even catchy moments on Ominous Ubiquitous.
The songs are well-written, showcasing an understanding of the dynamics of the style. The music is brutal, but contains mood-based sections and some sterling leads and solos. Kohnerah clearly know the genre well, and these songs are meaty slabs of death metal that successfully marry brutal savagery with macabre finesse.
Kohnerah have produced a solid and enjoyable death metal album. Ominous Ubiquitous has lots to offer the discerning metal fan and I heartily recommend that you check it out.
