Standard Interrogation Techniques: Five Questions for Frayle (Interview)

Although I’d ideally love to be able to conduct hard-hitting, in-depth interviews, who has the time these days? In lieu of this, I’ve thrown together the below question template, hopefully to gather some interesting and informative results, without taking up too much of anyone’s time.

Introduce yourself – who are you and what do you do?

Hi, I’m Gwyn. I sing/whisper/yell in Frayle.

Tell us about your latest release and why people should listen to your music

Our latest release is called Skin & Sorrow. It’s a heavy, melancholy album that examines heartbreak, longing, and anger.

Our music is a mix of low end, heavy guitars with light, lilting vocals over top. It’s been called lullabies over chaos.

What’s the most important thing to you about your music? What meaning does it give you and what purpose does it serve in your life?

Writing music is a huge release for me. It allows me to exorcise my demons and get everything out so that I don’t end up hurting someone…

Tell us a lesser-known interesting or funny anecdote about your band or music

We write, record, mix and master everything ourselves at our house. We also record and edit all of our own videos. Everything we do is self contained. Now if only we could press our own vinyl…

Finally, what are you listening to at the moment that you especially enjoy and wish more people knew about?

I got into Fvnerals after a new friend introduced them to us earlier this year. We also just played with Glacier at Post Fest a couple of weekends ago, and we’ve been listening to them frequently ever since!
