Skull Fist – Paid in Full (Review)

Skull Fist - Paid in FullSkull Fist are a Canadian heavy metal band and this is their fourth album.

Paid in Full boasts 34 minutes of true, old-school heavy metal, and it’s good to hear.

Skull Fist are a band that were clearly born in the 80s, spiritually at least. Paid in Full sounds authentically as if it belongs to that era, and the band’s honest delivery pays appropriate homage to the time.

The songs are well-written by people that clearly know the style. Full of pounding rhythms, driving riffs, delicious solos, and catchy choruses, Paid in Full is an easy album to like if you’re a fan of the genre. You can hear a touch of speed metal in places too, but mostly it is all about the traditional heavy metal. Either way, the band know what they are doing and the songwriting is on point.

The singer has a reliable voice and handles the material well. Whether he’s singing intently or screaming his heart out, his voice suits the music and sounds good.

Anyone looking for a hit of classic heavy metal nostalgia in 2022 can do a lot worse than this. Skull Fist are taking good care of heavy metal, and Paid in Full is an engaging and enjoyable trip to revisit past glories.
